Ballpoint pen goes brrrrr…

I have a prejudice against fluffy cats. I like dem bones and muscles, which you can’t see properly with the fluffies. Every once in a while, though, it’s fun to scribble a flufflelump.

Big cat came through his shots fine. He cried all the way there and sulked all the way back, but he immediately came home and jumped on the bed purring. He’s a very nice cat.

It was a vile day of high wind and hard rain and I was made to stand around in an outdoor marquee while they took the cat inside. For a moment, I thought we were all going to blow away like Mary Poppins.

Glad to hear he and you survived it all. 90+, sunny and humid here at the new casa de Armybrat in south Florida. Ideal weather for a day at the beach…me in a chair with a book, husband surf casting. So far, this retirement gig doesn’t suck!

It’s windy and cold and rainy here, but you know what? This retirement gig doesn’t suck, either.

Also, my efforts at shaming my aloof cat with all these stories of affectionate kitties may be working. First time ever she got in my lap and laid down today. She’s 10.

Rainy, crappy, very “New England” type weather here.

Down in the high 30’s (okay, 39) and drizzle.

Great day to go for a cup of hot coffee and a cheese strudel down in Rockport and watch the Atlantic act like the Atlantic. Oh, wait, we’re not in Masswatuchetts.

Are we allowed to have strudel pastry here in America?
Isn’t that cultural appropriation? And Coffee, wasn’t that “discovered” by the “west” in the Arabia area or Turkey? So isn’t drinking coffee cultural appropriation?

Anyway we settled for making cold cold weather comfort food in the Instant Pot. Vegetable and Barley Risotto.
Also cultural appropriation because you know, we’re not hardly the least bit Italian.
At least I’ve discovered my hobby, officially, now that I’m retired.

COOKING AND EATING.

As an experienced retiree, I am still surprised how much of a thrill I get out of waking up to nasty, nasty weather on a Monday. I used to have to be in the office at 8 a.m. after a drive through crappy traffic in that nasty weather. Now I sit at the breakfast table eating home-baked bread, drinking coffee, and watching the little birds crowd around the bird feeder.,..thinking about those all those other poor bastids still fighting the good fight without me.

I think I was born for this retirement gig.

@someveg
“I think I was born for this retirement gig.”

Have you noticed that, in general, you wake up in a good mood?
Despite all the reasons the friendly totalitarians keep finding to ruin your day?
