President Gutsy Call rides again

Hey. Well. So Obama took a stand on gay marriage that may or may not be slightly more popular than unpopular nationally, will make the people who were going to vote for him anyway somewhat happier with him, will make people who will never vote for him somewhat unhappier with him and won’t affect actual law or policy in any way.

Surely I can get a good post out of that.

No?

Huh.

Maurice Sendak died….I’m terribly sad. “Where the Wild Things Are” made me want to be an artist. Incidentally, he was gay.

To all the people who said we’ve known he was pro gay marriage all along…I’m not so sure. He’s a liberal, so there’s that. But he’s also someone who grew up abroad, in some places that are virulently anti-gay (at least officially). On the other hand, there were the rumors that he is gay.

Wait…do I care?

Incidentally, if you have noticed a certain…lameness of content lately, you’ll recall that the first two weeks of May are my Fortnight of Birthday. Woohoo.

I’m trying to push it to the Month of Birthday, but I’ll probably run out of steam.

He can’t run on his values – he doesn’t appear to have any to speak of. None that are not disposable, at any rate. He’s a weather vane, one finger always in the wind, the other stuck up…

Vidal Sassoon, also dead but not gay.

The benefit of the announcement, to Obama, is he just sucked up all the oxygen out of the media cycle that would otherwise be spent on 1) Mourdock (endorsed by Tea partiers and Sarah Palin) beating Lugar (old guy R-IN)in the Repub primary 2) Wisconsin State legislature recall primaries, where Walker got nearly as many votes in his UNCONTESTED Repub primary as all the Dems running in the Dem primary and 3) NC Marriage amendment passed 60/40 with even higher support in all the predominantly AA districts.

He’s not playing a winning hand – he’s trying to snooker the republicans from being able to play theirs.

He answered a questionnaire in favor of it in ’96, opposed it in ’04 and now he is in favor of it again.

He’s either really wishy washy or really cynical, either way, he’s not Presidential material.

Hiya folks. Last 24 hrs have been insane. So glad to have just a short respite from the all about Barky freaking news cycle. Now his Dogeatingness has come out and placated the scrotum huggers. Guess he finally felt the heat, and not from Reggie’s junk, for once.

Say what you will about Obama, but he dominated in that West Virginia primary, getting like 60% of the vote.

Actually, he may have made a mistep. I suspect that he sort of, kind of endorsed gay marriage in order to get some big donations from the Hollywood crowd that were holding back but if the GOP plays this right it could become a wedge issue in his black support. Anytime a vote is held on gay marriage the black community always votes overwhelmingly against legalizing it. This stance can only cost him votes and the number of votes depends on how Romney uses it. I hope that the MSM (under pressure from the LGBT community) starts asking Obama what he will do as President to turn his verbal support to something concrete. What a minefield the Dear Leader will find himself in.

No, Oceania.

I’m a Texan, so I know all about paranoiac patriotism. But the brutal fact is, New Zealand has nothing we want that we can’t buy more cheaply than we could seize by force. One of the main drivers of accusations of imperialism against the US is that we aren’t — and that’s insulting, because it implies you don’t have anything worth the effort of stealing. Which you don’t. If you don’t want to sell, somebody else has the same thing on offer. If the sun rose tomorrow on rolling open Pacific between Sydney and Christmas Island, there probably aren’t a million Americans who would do more than go “Hmph, that’s odd” and go on to the celebrity pictures.

The only possibility of that article being realistic is if somebody decided that, since nobody gives a damn about the place, NZ would be a good place for experimentation. There are places closer to home for that sort of thing.

I do agree with all of the concepts you have offered in your post. They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are too quick for newbies. Could you please lengthen them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

Here’s something you can write about, take a look at the pic of Tonto and the Lone Ranger people are using with Elizabeth Warren’s face photoshopped into it. Pan down to the hands. Good lord Tonto has gargantuan mitts, he could palm a basketball.

My husky-mix loooooves sweaty socks. If he doesn’t get a minimum 4 mile walk a day at a 15min/mile pace, then the he starts trolling the laundry bin.
Then I caught him snacking on some sweaty dollar bills that I had removed from The Husband’s pocket prior to doing laundry, and he delicately ripped them to shreds.
Stoaty, I’d be happy to load him to you, to clean out the spam filter. I’d thank you for saving our sock supply.
I have no idea what he would do to a hippy. Probably lick ’em clean. Eeew.
