I think we need to start a Pity Pool for people who never ever win. Through the magic of social pressure and online bullying, the people who are 3 or 6 or 10 time winners then graciously agree to transfer their weasel art prize to one of the perpetual losers. Like me. Dammit.

I’ve been listening to Sir Neville Marriner conduct various orchestras for more than a week on YouTube. I enjoy all the music he chose to have recorded. Hearing him conduct is, for me, a reliable stress-reliever.
Last Friday morning, Dead Pool Day, there was too much going on here at home. One of his recordings was still playing in my head, and I thought: There isn’t time today to ruminate on a guess. Neville Marriner must be pretty old, hasn’t been in the news lately…choose him.
I’m saddened to learn that he’s left us.
No, it’s not impolite to ask, Stoaty. I’ve made two correct guesses previous to this one. Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., whose death I mourned, and Kirk Kerkorian, scarcely known to me, and a somewhat dubious DP entry, time-wise. I’ve received one Dick. It was the prize for the Zimbalist win and is more captivating in its subject matter (Damien) and detail than I ever could have imagined. Greatly cherished, with thanks to you every time I lay eyes on it.
Sincerest apologies to the late Sir Neville and his loved ones for callously dancing on his soon-to-be-occupied resting place, but,
