Waiting for it…

Another hot and humid day today – quite a long hot spell by British standards. It’s just sunset now, and the sky has gone…weird. Orange. Threatening.

Looking high up, I spotted a faint but complete rainbow. It isn’t raining. Or it’s raining so lightly that it just feels like a prickling of your skin.

It’s the apocalypse, isn’t it? Come on, 2020, you’ve been teasing it long enough.

What no link to the color version!?

Eh, like I keep telling my kids, a lot of people have lived through way worse than this. You don’t even have to go back very far to show we are wimps on the short timeline of mankind.

Btw Sweas, the Ermine family has chickens for the first time. So far, so good.

Rain that doesn’t reach the ground is called Virga.

I’d be a terrible liar if I didn’t admit I did NOT read that as “Virga” on the first pass.

Meditations for apocalypse.

Isn’t it amazing that with all the apocalypses

(Apocalypso interlude:
Let us put man and a woman together
to find out which one is smarter, hey!
some say men, but I say no
The women got the men
goin all day long”
(We now return to your regularly schedule interruption)

with all the apocalypses going on that the sun still shines, the sky is still blue, the grass green, wind blows gently through the trees and the birds sing.

Remind yourself of that, the planet (Gaia) does not give a shit about our piddly-ass little freak out sessions and the dire predictions of the people who love to trouble your mind and your sleep.

One of my favorite songs…

Hurrah for chickens, Ermine. Let me know if you need a rooster – I’ll put a good one in a box and get it to you right away.

And thanks for that, Ben. I did not know that.

Durned, you probably know that song was almost cut from the film for making it too long. I was once a font of WoO trivia.

Weasy – every year around, what, Thanksgiving? When the networks would run the Wizard of Oz we’d actually get as many of the family together as were available and watch it.
To which the old man would, always, say “we’ve seen that thing 1000 times!”

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
