Spooky

Uncle B found this: it’s a tool that lets you explore a few Welsh neolithic tombs in 3D.

I’m still watching videos from the Prehistory Guys. I’m fascinated. Not only are there a thousand stone circles in Britain (that’s right now, still standing, when we know most have been ploughed up or incorporated in other buildings), but apparently there are thousands more in France and Spain.

I had no idea. This makes it sound as though every community had one. Like it was the village church, community hall and sports club. There is evidence of burials in some, there is evidence of feasting in others (notably Stonehenge).

As for the sport idea, that’s just spitballing, but it makes sense. Many of the circles had a raised bank all around them, as if for spectators (most of these have been ploughed away). All sorts of things might have taken place in a henge.

I can’t recommend these guys enough. On the one hand, they laugh at the tendency of professional archaeologists (they aren’t) to see everything they don’t understand as having a religious purpose. On the other, they refuse to entertain any kind of woo-woo at all.

My interest in neolithic archaeology has been dampened for many years by my scorn for larping modern ‘Druids’.

Sorry I’m late. I was under a cat.

I see they even have the circles on the floor so you can social distance in virtual reality. LOL 😛

Now that the husband and I are retired we are able to fly free/space available on military aircraft. Now this has been suspended due to this covid bullshit__but when it resumes, Mcdill in Tampa flies into Mildenhall. We’re hopping to catch a hop or two and explore Wales and head north into Scotland. I grew up going to London (frequently), and while I love the museums, it’s long gone from what I grew up visiting. Hubby wants to see some other stuff, hence, the thoughts about Wales and Scotland.

London is lost, Armybrat – unrecognisable to anyone born more than 30 years ago. It sits like a cuckoo, nothing whatsoever to do with the host country on which it feeds but, unlike a cuckoo, without any redeeming qualities.

Fortunately, much of the rest of the place isn’t in too bad a shape. Just avoid the big cities and enjoy a glimpse of olde England (and Wales and Scotland too) before they sink beneath the tide of post-modern ‘progress’.

Huh, you have scorn for the LARPing modern Druids.

I’m currently spending mine on the LARPing modern governments and members of the politicized ‘scientific’ medical community that are prolonging this pandemic bullshit. Oh, and for those who know better and could help end it but are keeping their mouths shut too.

And the few who have dared open their mouths have either been silenced by Socialist Media companies or sacked by their employers.

Not that there’s anything suspicious going on. Oh, dear me no.

Because you know, “infected” (assuming that’s true in the first place, the tests being so awesomely accurate) is the same as “dead”.

(gratuitous movie reference warning)
Infected is not even “mostly dead”. NO! It’s “Morally, Ethic’lly, Spiritually, Physically, Positively, Absolutely, Undeniably and Reliably Dead”.

Yessir.

Perhaps in addition to hiding in our homes and wearing our Niqabs 24 x 7 some manacles and ankle shackles made of good heavy iron would be appropriate in case we’re inclined to move about too quickly and thereby spread contagion.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
