Notable, in The Donald’s remarks was the fact that he somewhat commiserated with Vlad Putin, referring to the “Russia Russia Russia” hoax which, as worldly aficionados of hoaxes will remember, was initiated and perpetrated by former MI-6 operative Christopher Steele.

I suppose PDJT got a shot at the British government with that last bit since he was nice to Starmer on his in and out of the USA.

I would also like to point out that Zelenskyy should absolutely use a translator at situations of importance. Miscommunication of nuance definitely exacerbated things.
When trump first said “You don’t have the cards” Z’s brow furrowed a bit and he turned a little as if confused and said “I’m not playing cards, I’m being serious.”
I believe he misunderstood Trump’s intent of [you don’t have a winning hand] as an insulting [You’re just playing games] putting him more on the defensive.
When Zelenskyy, in an unhelpful tone, said “we’ve been going it alone” that obviously ticked off Trump. Zelenskyy *might* have meant that “(despite copious assistance) only Ukrainian soldiers are dying (on our side)”. Less bad, but still pissy.
Diplomatic translators are experienced at smoothing over linguistic “challenges” as much as can be done.
His biggest stupid mistake though, was jumping over the fact that the purpose of this meeting was locking in Baby Step #1. This would have gotten US (businesses) involved on the ground with Ukraine. Zelenskyy wanted only to talk about step 7 or 8 of ‘Security Guarantees’ when Trump has been adamant that no US Troops set foot in Ukraine.

I read not too long ago that Z bought his wife a $400K vehicle for her birthday. I immediately thought that’s where the money went. His bank accounts must be something to behold. He found out this wasn’t Biden and his puppets he was dealing with today. I’m sure the staff enjoyed the little twerp’s lunch.

Apparently, he can afford to buy his wife a $400k car but can be bothered to buy a suit to meet a guy who is a notorious stickler for appropriate business dress. He then attempts to get snarky with the VP and failed to heed PDJT’s admonishments about being disrespectful. The long of the story is he thought he was still dealing with the Biden administration and failed to read the room. The short of the story is he FAFOd.

His “I’m just a simple man” skit is wearing thin.

He’s living in Biden’s early war ” I stand with Ukraine! (wherever that is!) ” zone.

The fickle American public has moved on and “we’re standing with someone else!” right now.

Some are with trans, some are with illegal immigrants, some are with poor soon to be unemployed Democrats who pretended to be working for the government, some are with their cause celebre of Foreign Aid, a lot are with “WE HATE TRUMP!” and seemingly more are with “We’re tired of paying for everybody else”.

And the ungrateful little snipe comes in dressed like he’s doing an Uber pickup at Subway and tries to bully the wrong guys.

Trump’s position is simple:

The war is lost. If you stop now, you might even get back some territory. The U.S. will not commit troops, but WILL put in an industrial presence after there’s peace and that is as good a deterrent as troops. I should note as an aside that the Ukraine had zero plans for the rare minerals et al so this actually costs them nothing. It’s a good deal.

Zelensky does not understand this position. He wants to keep fighting and believes that dragging in a U.S. presence will deter Russia. Vance pointed out Ukraine’s weak position, and Zelensky, foolishly, challenged him and rudely. He then said that there can be no deal with Putin because Putin is a liar.

Trump then gave the whole thing up as a waste of time.
