Untangling my empire

I just registered a domain name for a local club and went to hang their site off my server and discovered…I have no idea how it works any more.
Actually, not true. Considering I haven’t designed a webpage in a serious way for 20 years, it’s amazing how little the technology has changed. I can navigate my way around just fine, thank you. That’s weird.
But I’ve got thirteen websites hanging off my account, most of which have been dead for years. And somehow Uncle B’s account has been set to the master account. And it would be nice to fix the thing making this website flag as dangerous.
I have some learning to do. I hate learning.

The only thing I hate more than learning.
Is re-learning something I thought I knew.

I used to do quite a lot of website work, now it’s so few and far between that I forget almost everything I knew…annoying.
I mostly use Joomla as the CMS and buy off the shelf templates if I can find one that suits…last couple of times I just modified the Cassiopeia template that comes with it…it’s derived from Bootstrap framework so there’s lots of knowledge laying around out there to draw from.
If you’re using cPanel you can probably set the main domain in there…you don’t seem to be using SSL certificates so it’s less a pain in the ass to change it. SSL is a racket. I avoid getting them as well but a lot of people wet their panties if they see that ‘Not secure’ warning in the address bar of their browser.

AI tells me I can’t set which domain is the main site; ISP has to do it. I wrote to them last night with no response.
Hmph. It probably doesn’t make a blind bit of difference.

…most of which have been dead for years…
I created a personal website 19 years ago, hosted for free by my then-ISP. I gave up that account over 10 years ago. The website is still there. Apparently the ISP has’t deleted it.
Then there’s this: in 2022, I searched
“Saint Francis” SFG
on duckduckgo (part of my long term project to find all 17,576 TLAs).
The first hit was “St. Francis School for Girls”, which was actually an amateur spanking porn site. It was fairly elaborate – pages describing the campus, the faculty, the student uniforms, and some on-going characters.
The site was last updated, AFAICT, in _2003_. (It’s now dead.)
It makes me wonder how much of the Web is fossils and zombies.
