LOL WUT?

Ladies and gentlemen, behold — the levitating chickens of Whiterun.

I’m playing through Skyrim again (because awesome is why) and this time I’m doing it with a few mods. Many game companies have traditionally and wisely encouraged players to build and distribute game modifications — bits of extra programming that add anything from new types of clothing to extra music and sound effects to whole new storylines. These extras don’t cost the company anything and help prolong the shelf life of popular games. Also, they sometimes poach talent from their best modders.

Generally speaking, most add-ons behave well. But occasionally, not. What you’re looking at is a glitch, an unintentional result of who knows which mod I have added. Someone somewhere used an identifier for chicken that someone else had used for the height from the ground of a catapulted stone.

Imagine my surprise today when my brother in arms let go the catapult, and every chicken in the neighborhood shot 50 feet straight up into the air, hung lazily in the sky for a moment and slowly drifted down like rose petals. It was…majestic (though I missed a pic of the first time it happened when, like, fifty chickens did this…I was just too transfixed with awe to remember the screenshot button).

Just a reminder of the strange and wonderful things that can happen when multiple people work on the same body of code. And speaking of Obamacare, more and more pols are ‘fessing up that, yes, actually they realized the law meant that millions of people who liked their insurance wouldn’t actually be able to keep their insurance.

I’m transfixed with awe about this one, too. Did they think that would just…blow over? That the joy of the poor gimps who finally got health insurance would drown the screams of the many millions of not-rich people who took a big ol’ financial hit? The level of denial or magical thinking or just plain stupid here is just…I just have no words.

It very well may just blow over, Señora Armiña. I certainly hope not, and will do what little I can to see that it doesn’t. But compare this to, say, Woodrow Wilson’s campaign promise to keep “our boys” out of the conflict in Europe to what he turned around and did once in office.

I note that he got away with that. Politically, anyway. (I’m heartened he was struck down by a stroke while still in office.) And Barky has already gotten away with breaking all his campaign promises to undo those nasty W programs and practices that are now not only still active but positively augmented, such as drone killings and Guantánamo.

Just in case it isn’t obvious, this really, really, really-really pisses me off.

Oh, they’re throwing all manner of bullshit against the wall hoping that something will stick. The latest spin is that it was crap insurance and they’re actually doing folks a favor by “transitioning” them to Obamacare. No, really.

While upsetting for millions, me included, the individual mandate blow back is small beer compared to the employer mandate shit storm building over the horizon. It’s is gonna be awesome…a tsunami of shit headed straight for the Dems in 2016.

Of course one can never underestimate the GOP’s thirst for death…they may throw themselves in front as they did on Oct 1st.

I wouldn’t put it past them, BJM. Their capacity for pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory is unparalleled.

Are you using Nexus or the Steam Workshop Weas? The Nexus Mod Manager is excellent if you haven’t tried it.

There are mod makers out there that put original content to shame. This Medusa/ Drakul armor by Zerofrost is a good example. It’s a beaut.

Urgent health warning: Boycott NZ dairy products!!!

“Fourteen tankers were contaminated with the mud before the error was caught, including six which had gone on to pick up raw milk.

The Daily News understands the mud was oil and gas drilling waste, but Fonterra was unable to confirm this tonight. ”

http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/dairy/9344271/Mud-contaminates-Fonterra-tankers

They have been caught transporting factory and chemical wast in milk tankers also.

Avoid Fonterra milk products like the PLAGUE!

Botulism, DCD, animal parts, hexamine in dead Chinese babies, people needing kidney transplants.

AVOID AT ALL COST!

ALL of the Repubs are not only morons….they are RETARDED morons.

Each and every one of them should begin and end every sound bite with:

“We tried desperately everything delay this, in hopes that it could be improved, before it was inflicted on American citizens. But the President insisted he would veto anything that delayed this roll-out or caused improvements to it, in any way. He shut down the government and had a tantrum and closed all the national parks, rather than work to fix any of the problems. He, and his fellow Democrats in Congress did this to you. He wanted this, more than anything.”

If only they would Steve – but they won’t! Drives me crazy. I’ve reached the ‘vote every single rino out!’ point.

I’m torn between two perspectives on the keep your insurance thing:

1) they were so clueless about insurance and economics they didn’t think companies would have to raise rates to cover people with pre-existing conditions and were just trying to keep them from charging more
2) this was the plan all along, to drive people into the welcoming arms of big brother and socialized medicine.

But predictions of doom and collapse of Democrats are ridiculous and utterly false. This won’t even slow em down.

Re: the Skyrim yardbird lift-off, it looks like the chooks detected a ravenous mink and took off.

Are there any add-ons for mustelid input? Guawds… Wewease the Whizzles!

Re: Dems, Repubs… the first party wants to steer towards Glorious Cuban Model of Equal Outcome for (almost) All, the second just wants to control some of the budget, while avoiding any slightest suspicion of being an opposition party.

In the spirit of Chrimmust, I was watching documentaries from Jolly Britain and two conclusions come to mind immediately.
A) very few Britishers volunteered to dwell on the gannet-guano coated rocky outcroppings on the peripheries of Denmark, it is predominantly hereditary condition
B) in their heart of hearts, many of them probably curse Grandfather Nigel of York Fusileers for utter stupidity of not switching sides to General Washington and squashing the monarchic blight in its smelly German stockings once and for all.

Re: cats. I surprised an ancient huge feral tomcat in the open. Never saw him before. Unsurprisingly, we won’t see him again.

I’ve been meaning to pick your brains about Skyrim, ermine. I note you’ve played consistently and I assumed it was because of some killer mods. In fact, I wondered if you’d tried making any of your own.

I made it 2 minutes into the introduction video of Skyrim and turned it off.

If they really are the second string of the enemy team, is it considered a defeat, or is it trying to qualify for the first string?

No problem. I have been avoiding any New Zealand products for years. I admit to seeing the Lord of the Rings movies filmed there; but other than that I have been pretty successful in the endeavor.

Heh. Henry Waxman has complained that Private Insurers are still selling compliant policies, and says it is Cheating and Abusing the system, and that he is going to have Obama order the private companies to stop selling outside of Obamacare…

Here’s a funny: google “If only comrade Stalin knew” and read accounts of delusional Obama shills like Peggy Noonan and Alan Dershowitz.

Are you sure it’s not just a Bethesda Bug (I just coined that shit)?

I remember the first time I discovered the Scrapyard in Fallout 3. Pieces of car just started raining from the sky even though nobody was fighting or doing anything.
