The Goths love ’em

Our newest £2 coins. The text around the edge reads “What a piece of work is a man!” I’m not sure I’m down with scary skellingtons on my money.

In March, they’re scrapping the old £1 coin design, which was round, in favor of an octagonal one. It’s to cut down on fraud.

The Royal Mint regularly conducts surveys to estimate the level of counterfeit £1 coins in the UK. A survey undertaken in May 2015 found that the rate of counterfeit UK £1 coins in circulation at the time was 2.55%, compared to 3.03% in May 2014.

Not sure if new coins mean all the coin machines will have to be scrapped.

Oh, changing the subject, I had a conversation with a tourist today. She heard my accent and asked where I was from and I told her. I asked her where she was from and she said, “Oregon. We’re very liberal and I guess we’re going to be punished for it now.” Right off the bat, first thing.

I never liked Limbaugh’s construction that liberalism is a mental disease, but it sure do seem like it sometimes.

The personal is political.

Progressives really believe that. They have so internalized their politics that there is nothing, absolutely nothing that is free from them. I am not joking.

I don’t think “liberalism” is a mental disease. It does for some reason encourage a breakdown in rational thought.

In 1990, I picked up a couple of 5 pound notes with the young queen. I returned in 1992 and found they were no longer accepted and I had to go to a special branch of the Bank of England. After getting lost, I said eff it. So now I have a bunch of 1 pound coins that will be no good after October. Oh, well. Still nice mementos…

I’ve got lib friends who have been (mostly) normal, decent people for years that I have known them, but quite a few of them have completely lost their grip on reality since the election.

Oh, and for the record, while Oregon tends to be deep blue, it’s because the population centers of Portland and Eugene wag the dog in this state. East of the Cascades, Oregon is full of us proper rednecks 🙂 Drives me nuts, but at least my immediate surroundings contain mostly decent, sane folk.

The Oregonian Lady only said that because she thinks it’s fine to punish the Right.

If the new coin is the same size and weight the vending machines won’t care, probably.

The whole point of having coins is that they last longer than paper money, and if you are going to replace the coins every couple of years what’s the point?

I wonder what she envisions when she says “punish?”

Punish? Well her conversation with her brother is going to have to wait till she comes out of the Ladies Room now, so there’s that.

Someone had better scamper over and pick Chuck Manson. He has been taken from prison to an intensive care unit.

I would go myself, but have already picked Chuck Yeager, and I don’t believe multiple picks are allowed. Even if it would be sneaky!

I assume you didn’t respond to the Oregonian liberal. I’m pretty sure I would have told her I voted for Trump, just to see her reaction. I’m not one to start fights, but that would have been so worth it.

I imagine that Mzzz Oregon simply expects that she and her liberal cabal won’t get their own way any more. To their mentality (I speak loosely), that amounts to punishment.

From what I have seen of the Leftists having meltdowns is that they expect that they will be on the receiving end of what they envisage as the proper fate for the Wreckers and Saboteurs of the American people. And if they had a chance, and they still may have a chance given that much of the Republican Party will ally with them; they would do those things. Depending on the nature of their meltdowns, they may well try.

And this for Sweas:

Ran across this in the TELEGRAPH. It seems that according to some researchers, ‘chikkens’ are as smart as some mammals AND are . . . “Machiavellian”.

What was her name? We can look up her address and send hate mail! Isn’t that what Trump voters do?

Oh wait! thats what Democrats do to Electors pledged to Trump. My bad.

Apropos of nothing, I ran across this site: https://tinyurl.com/hn484xf It’s an Etsy site that sells beautiful plates of the “anatomy” of fabulous animals, like the mermaid (“La Sirene”), the unicorn (“La Licorne”), the Yeti (“La Yeti du Nival”), and lots more. (No griffins, unfortunately.) All in French they are, but I think anybody can figure out what “Squelette de Dragon” means. Our hostess and anybody else who likes imaginative artwork would like ’em.
