Adorable cartoon weasel

cartoonweasel

Okay, maybe not so adorable. This is a 3D model I made ages ago, when I first got started with Blender. I posted about it at the time. I guess. I hadn’t remembered.

Until somebody wrote and asked if he could have it for something. Of course he could.

And. Oh. My. God. IT’S SO FUZZY!

You ever consider trying it out on Shapeways?

Huh. I hadn’t heard of Shapeways.

Thing is, I got a 3D printer for my birthday, almost a year ago. I’ve never posted about it, because I’m still coming to grips with it and haven’t done a project that would encapsulate the coolness of it.

Did you read the story about the married couple and their two cats that were killed by their 3D printer? No joke. 🙁

I guess you have to ventilate them. Maybe you shd get an alarm?

So, we’re not going to hear the story?

Did they walk into a bar, by any chance?

I heard about the couple that was killed by the carbon monoxide from their 3D printer. I gather it was an industrial unit that was not rated for use in a dwelling.

Am I the only one who gets the uncanny valley feeling when I behold the glory of the bald weasel model? I wonder if fur would help, or if it’s something else?

Sigh.

There’s a compliment in there somewhere.

A quick google on 3d printers and they are impressive but I doubt as easy as they make them look. From what I gather, the death of the couple is still a mystery. There are several theories but no one knows for sure. These machines dont look like something you would run non stop which is what would have to be done to fill a room with enough fumes to displace oxygen, no?

“…friend of the couple said they owned a small commercial laser cutter and a small desktop 3D printer, neither of which were likely in use at the time of the couple’s death.”

Are laser printers and laser cutters different? This one looks like it combines both and is called a laser printer:

I read that if you cut plastic it creates toxic fumes & that might have killed them. But the police said they had classic symptoms of CO poisoning which I assume is that cherry red facial flush. Anyway, I would be nice to know exactly what led to their deaths.

For all their regulations, the Bay Area is a joke. I’m still waiting to hear about arrests in that Ghost Ship fire disaster. It’s been 2 months.

Oh, noes!! 2 links and I’m in spam jail! 🙁

Shorter version:
They dont know why they died.
They had a small commercial laser cutter and a home laser printer — neither which were on.
Laser printers are very cool: https://glowforge.com/

There, Ric Fan — I’ve just made you look like a complete banana by kicking them both loose.

I did run ours in the living room for a while, so we could keep an eye on it. It’s super cool to watch in operation. But it’s also noisy, so I’ve moved it way in the back of the house where it’s not likely to kill anybody.

I suspect that the couple were done in by The Lego Mafia. Undercutting that empire’s brick selling dominance by 3D printing enough Lego-esque bricks for your 1/6th scale Berserkeley diorama gets you snuffed.

Another fine weasel representation. Weasels are somewhat difficult to pull off, one wrong move and BAM its a cat. Kudos to Sweasel, she’s a master. And yes, they are plantigrade.
