Is it gin o’clock yet?

Oh, man, I’ve had a booger of a day. Power was down at work, which I didn’t realize until I got there.

When the power is out, the fire alarm keens like a wounded animal. The intruder alarm makes a series of two high, two low beeps until you plug in a certain code, which shuts it up. For half an hour.

Our phone now goes over ethernet, so no incoming calls on the landline. I managed to rig my cellphone as a wifi hotspot and get some mail in and out on the laptop, but none of the apps I use to control things would work. The solar panels realized they were offline and began to whimper softly.

Couldn’t buy a cup of coffee and couldn’t have paid for it if I did.

I don’t think our lords and masters have thought through this “make everything electric” business. Especially while they’re blowing up our sources of electricity.

No electricity, no digital money, no universal ID, no social credit score. We are ruled by idiots. Have a good weekend!

I have this unshakeable fear that next year’s ‘October Surprise’ just before the presidential elections is going to be a wonderous event of biblical proportions. Something never before seen or experienced. Perhaps an official visit from extra-terrestrial aliens from outer space with good news about our extended warranty for civilization if we make one small contribution to their quick reaction force.

Or maybe an asteroid will hit Tehran. I don’t know but I suspect it will be big.

Tut tut, you peasants have no need of all these electric geegaws. And village lights out will be an hour after sunset so you’ll be fresh faced and ready to till the gardens of your betters at sunup.

As long as we’re wishing for an asteroid for Tehran, I’d like to expand that to include specially selected bits of Moscow, Kyiv, Ottawa, and Washington, D.C. please.

As much as I despise electronic noisy beepy gadgetry, I’d gladly put up with it if only we could get rid of larcenous warmongering totalitarians. Now, that isn’t asking too much, is it?

“Can’t do anything because the power is out” is EXACTLY what they want. They control the power switch so if you don’t do precisely what they want, it gets turned off.

That’s why they’d like it if you volunteer to install SMART electronics that can be controlled from the net.
Keeps them from having to drive out to your house to do a disconnect of whatever, and you paid for it!

Oh, I think they have — RFKJr, the little commie, wants this:

My estimate is 72 hours for complete devolution into chaos if the plug gets pulled and the whole system goes belly up. Watched it firsthand when my sister was visiting and we lost power for 10 or 12 days one November. She almost lost her mind. Winter outages are easy…freezer stuff goes outside on the back porch, fridge stuff goes in the garage, oil lamps for light, wood stove for cooking & melted snow for utility water. Drinking water is from a nearby spring year round. Summer outages suck… don’t need heat or light, but I haven’t installed the propane fridge or freezer yet.

Modern electric civilization is like the .5mm veneer on cheap furniture.
It looks good and works as long as you don’t whack it hard.

I have family in DC so if it’s very selective I’m ok with that.
There are parts of the Pacific Northwest that I wouldn’t mind never hearing about.
