Yeah, I should be so stupid…

You know the most hilarious part of the Sarah Palin phenomenon? All the same people — right and left — who thought Reagan was a complete doofus back in the day are now swearing on huge stacks of Bibles that he was a great man and a bzillionty times more differenter than Sarah.

Yeah. Most common old school media descriptor of Ronnie: Ronald Reagan, star of Bedtime for Bonzo.

Since I can’t watch the show, I went online and watched the trailers for Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Now, I’m a total and complete sucker for a montage, I admit, but I was…mmm…charmed.

Okay, so let me get this straight. The woman wangled eight hours of polished, prime time, slickly-produced, kick ass television time out of a major cable network, and I’m supposed to believe she’s stupid?

Huh.

I was firmly in the “I love Sarah but I don’t think she should run” camp. Every day, I edge closer to the “fuck it — RUN, SARAH, RUN!” camp.

Those of you who didn’t get the bubblegum reference…I’m extremely disappointed in you, that’s all.

Duke Nuke’m stole the line, too, but it was all Roddy Piper’s.

They Live is a surprisingly good movie for a film starring a wrestler.

Missy shoots a caribou with a 7mm Magnum after missing 4 times with a varmint gun in front of a camera crew. Was the caribou deaf or chained to a post? Next week she camps with Kate and her eight kids (I am not making that up, I swear.) They all watch Fonzi jump the shark together.

I love the idea of Sarah Palin. Exposure to the real thing is a mixed experience.

Palin’s perfectly intelligent enough to run a government that does only what it really ought to. The minute you start treading into trillion dollar schemes for this-and-that, people ought to wonder if you’re up for the job. For good or ill, NOBODY is smart enough to run the gubmint Obama is trying to run.

I fear a Romney nomination more than Palin. Don’t get me wrong, I’d vote for a stuffed dog over Obama, but our field of contenders is thin. “My guy”, Pawlenty, gets about zero attention from anybody, which is rather sad.

Romney was my choice last time. I’d seen him in action next door in Mass. and I thought he was articulate and quick on his feet.

I was deeply disappointed in his performance. He wouldn’t be my top pick again.

The show runs better with a woman in charge.

Think Elizabeth I, Victoria, Margaret Thatcher….

The greatest thing about a Sarah Palin is that she makes all the right people shit themselves.

I’m gonna vote for her as many times as I can, legal or otherwise, and it has nothing to do with her tepid media appearances.

LOL.. I special ordered that movie last month, and immediately copied it to my hard drive…. 🙂

The fight in the alley trying to force Keith David to put on the glasses was the real kicker for me…..

I was SUCH a Rowdy Roddy Piper fan when I was a kid!

I also admit to being a fan of Duane Johnson (aka. The Rock) in The Rundown…..

MCPO Airdale…if we find a candidate the MSM likes, we won’t like what we get.

They will attack everyone. At least Sarah won’t try and suck up to them so they will like her.

Ms W –
I was in the same place as you with Romney. Letting McC and Huck cold cock him was strike one. His pretty much hiding under a rock since then is strike two.

He will have to do a lot of convincing to make me think he won’t wilt when up against the big guns of the Dems and MSM.

I have a horrible confession to make…I voted for John McCain…not just in the election but in the caucus as well. Boy, was that a bad decision. Granted, I didn’t have much of a choice, both Romney and Huckabee had known strikes against them for me that was bigger than McCain’s McCain-Feingold.

I’m also glad to hear that Uncle B would of voted for Hilary Clinton during ’08. After all, he did say the show would run better with a woman. Hahaha.

And so do those of us on the West Side of the pond as well. GOP has become Dem Lite. They both have the same goal. The GOP just wants to saunter there slightly slower. Murkowski, McCain, Snowe, Graham, Collins, McConnell,et al, not one damn bit of difference from Chuckie or Harry or…

The stench is overwhelming.

I still believe in Romney. My theory is as follows:

No Republican was going to win the last election. The anti-Bush feelings were just too strong, not to mention the little fact of an ugly recession rearing its head.

As much as I don’t care for Obama, I have to say that the economy was going to suck for whoever was president this term. True, it didn’t have to be this bad, but with nothing with which to compare it, any economy that didn’t produce free unicorn milk for everyone would have allowed the press to savage a 3rd consecutive Republican administration.

There’s a rule of thumb that you only get one run as a major contender. So Romney was quietly told to save his powder for a time when it could make a difference – 2012.

I hope to God that this theory is right.

As for Sarah – she’s the Newt Gingrich of our generation. She’s much more useful to us on the outside, asking “How’s that hopey changey thing working out for you?” than she is actually occupying an office somewhere. Certainly she’s smart enough and skilled enough, but why muzzle her by forcing her to occupy a position where compromise is required? Leave her free to speak fundamental truths.

Like her or hate her, she sends the left into apoplectic seizures. And as Martha would say: Thats a good thing. Personally, I like her. Hopefully she (and Christie) will help create a new base of in-your-face conservatives over the next couple years. We have been far too timid for far too long. Time to swing the pendulum.

But sorry, she just can’t win a national election. Putting all of our hopes on her is a mistake. She would have made a great head of the RNC…too bad she shot that down already.

Veg says ” There’s a rule of thumb that you only get one run as a major contender. So Romney was quietly told to save his powder for a time when it could make a difference – 2012. ”

If he didn’t want to run, then don’t run. But getting the bums rush from Huck and McCain did him no favors with me. Similarly with Rudy – anyone who thinks hiding in Florida is a campaign strategy has some funny ideas.

Those two ran a comically bad primary campaign. McCain ran a good one, then ran a tragically bad general. But being unable to get out of the gate in a race is worse than fading in the final stretch.

Grom – well, I’d believe those kind of forecasts if I hadn’t heard all of them about Reagan in the late 70s and 80s.

And I don’t put all my hopes on anyone. But putting any hope in a weak reed seems to be futile. So far Sarah is one of the few GOPers showing any kind of courage.

She would serve the cause better as the strobe-light that causes the left to go into epileptic fits, IMHO.
