I remember Affirmative Action when it came around the first time. The argument was that qualified black candidates for jobs had been denied in the past, so preference should be given for qualified black candidates now.

They way it worked in practice, it often gave a less-qualified black applicant preference over a more-qualified white, but nobody DESCRIBED it that way. Because that would be nuts.

My recollection of what “affirmative action” was supposed to be was like this:
Look for candidates beyond the NYC men’s clubs. Look beyond the school tie. Do active recruiting where you haven’t before. Appreciate how fertile it is.

Now children, let’s tune into a universe where President Zlabotnick just said –

“I can’t tell you who I’m going to appoint for Supreme Court Justice. But I can tell who whoever it is, he’ll be white and male.”

Go figure.

We are undergoing a civilizational mitosis. The DNA of our society is unzipping itself into two distinctly different versions though and the resultant cells will be entirely antagonistic toward each other. I am old enough to long predate Affirmative Action. And I have lived west of the Mississippi all my life. NY Men’s clubs were not a factor in our hiring. I did find it interesting that Affirmative Action then did not apply to Hispanics [which were more common than blacks, or to Asians [especially Japanese, which I am not] who had themselves and their families locked up in concentration camps in WW-II.

Notice that nobody in DC is floating Candace Owens’ name, other than Ted Cruz and that was a sarcastic tweet. She’s black too. And she’s young enough to serve for 40 years. Oh wait, she’s not a libtard. Never mind. Because political alignment trumps even race and gender.

And any American who studies the Constitution is as good an expert as some white shoe Harvard Law grad. Studying SCOTUS decisions is as much an exercise in what they did wrong as what they did right.

What we need is a solid Democrat.
