We will never understand them…

Uncle B got a fancy new cellphone today. It’s one of the Xiaomi phones with the Leica lenses. He love him some phone photography.

We’ve been laughing ourselves silly over the ringtones. All of them. All of them sound like music for a cartoon set in Peking, with titles like “young people love milk tea shop” and “doll and bear dance”.

We are never going to understand these people.

The ring tone I have for people on my contacts list is ‘who are you? Who. who. I really want to know.’

The ring tone I have is, naturally “Spam, spam spam spam. Wonderful Spam.: For anyone not in my contact list.

I’d be thrilled with anything that had a Leica lens on the front.
Who Who Are You wins.
All my important contacts have their own ringtones, and it’s my favorite things about having a cellphone. And I take medicine 7 times a day, and pull from Pandora for those ringtones, so it’s always a surprise.

@Skandia Recluse.
That’s awesome man!

@Sweasy – I tried to hear them, but couldn’t find the ones you mentioned.
I did find a bunch, singing, in Russian.
And I learned to pronounce “Shoumi” (xaiomi).
Which reminds me of a native Cantonese speaker I worked with pronouncing her husbands name, and me saying i knew another guy with the same (to me) name and she asked me to spell it, told me they were different, and then, to my ear, pronounced them identically.
😁

My ring tone? Set to good old pre-mobile AT&T wall phone ringer. The one that sent everyone dashing to answer the phone like Pavlovian dogs on crack.
I used to use “Dive klaxon” but it annoyed Mrs D because I didn’t always hear it.
Either that or she didn’t appreciate me loudly saying ” Dive, Dive, Dive” when I DID hear it.

Many years ago, I sat down with ITunes and created a bunch of ringtones. My husband is Etta James At Last. My usual one for people not on my contact list is Hello, Hello from the Beatles Hello, Goodbye. In October I change that to the Vincent Price laugh from Thriller. In November it becomes the Linus piano tune from the Peanuts. In Dec it becomes Eartha Kitt Santa Baby and changes to the Carol of the Bells for the 12 days of Christmas.

Yikes! Not sure the trade-off for a Leica lens is worth having a Chinese made spy machine in my pocket….

The thing is, thefrtz, where were any other phones made? Or your TV, computer, router, any electrical components in your heating system or your car…

A very long time ago, Stoaty gave us a link to a wonderful ringtone of cackling chickens. IIRC, she made it herself. It was great and I loved it. I could keep the volume low but it would still demand attention. And of course, it was virtually unique.

Alas, Mrs. Uncle Al absolutely hated it and forbade me from ever using it. I got over being irked by her attitude in short order, but never over my disappointment that I won’t hear those chickens ever again cackling in my pants.

I ditched the cackling chicken ringtone too, Al. Every time my phone went off, I thought a fox was in the henhouse.

My regular ring tone is a fruity voice saying “rrring rrring!” but my ringtone for Uncle B is a Victrola record. It really irks him.

Uncle B, My phone is a Samsung, made in S. Korea. All our tv’s are too. While I’m not so naive to think we are not being spied on by everyone at all times, it’s not likely an embedded chip is sending info directly to the CCP from a S. Korean device. They just found a bug in Chinese made solar equipment that sent info straight to the ChiComs.
