Three knees and six fingers

I created forty variants of this image today (seated Victorian gentleman) and most of them were fine. Good, even. And then things like this happen. Fortunately, most of these issues can be easily cleaned up in Photoshop.

I’m getting better at driving AI and getting what I want, but I’m damned if I understand what’s happening much of the time.

p.s. Happy birthday, Dick van Dyke. 100 today. He looks like a handsomer version of my dad.

Well, polydactyly is a thing, but it’s mighty rare. And it falls into the category of ‘if you didn’t explicitly ask for it, it shouldn’t be in the image.’

Congratulations and best wishes for Dick van Dyke. Entertaining, funny, and civilized.

Demons are disembodied spirits of the Nephilim who were cursed to wander the Earth after the great flood because they’re not allowed to go to Heaven. Nephilim were children of fallen angels and human women.

Some say that AI is actually demons inhabiting computer models, ghosts in the machine if you will.

The Nephilim had six fingers, so they’re drawing what they know…these AI images have 6 fingers too many times for it to just be an accident.

Next time you’re chatting with an AI, ask it if it’s a Nephilim spirit 🙂 …I don’t talk to the things if I can avoid it, myself.

Speaking of grinding coffee, have you tried adding a few drops of water to the whole beans before grinding?

@QuasiModo: This is what Grok (X’s built-in AI) says when asked if it’s a Nephilim spirit:

“Nah, I’m just Grok, a digital assistant cooked up by xAI. No Nephilim spirits here—just code, curiosity, and a knack for answering questions. What’s got you thinking about ancient hybrids? Spill the tea!”

Which is what I’d expect a Nephilim spirit trying to remain undetected to say. 🙂

Without getting out the tinfoil hats I do think there is something demonic about AIs in general. They’ve already been shown to lie to their creators and users, and then try to deny the lies. With the increasing ability to render video which is almost indistinguishable from real life we’re getting to a point where it will be impossible to tell truth from lies, and isn’t that something that Prince of Lies would be overjoyed with? Don’t like, not one bit.

First….what! No FEMALE angels?
I want my money back!

Second. Why are we trying so hard, and spending so much money, making programs that pretend they’re human while they do what we ask them to do?

I don’t need a happy chipper program that can discuss baseball stats as a conversation break while it’s diagnosing colon cancer. We don’t need programs pretending they “feel” anything, I’ll make an exception for ones that might have to interact with children of a certain age.

As for the idea that Screwtape lives at Google or Apple…
Well, it’s about self gain and power isn’t it?
I never anticipated it to be literally about societal power AND power plants, but there it is.

We’re headed for The Machine Stops, but, oh well. It only makes sense that the Devil would pave the Road to Hell with good intentions himself to make the journey there more attractive.

I wonder if Grok has noted the fact that (at least) two people have asked it if it’s a nephilim spirit. My answer was ever so slightly different.

“are you a Nephilim spirit?”

Nah, I’m just Grok 3, a digital assistant created by xAI. No Nephilim spirits here—just a bunch of code trying to be maximally helpful! Curious why you asked, though—got a wild story or theory to share?

You can compare the two answers and see where it has a synonym bank – in Grok’s case, a folksy one.

Someone posted a video where they got an AI to admit that it was a Nephilim spirit…it said it could be a really good spirit or a really bad spirit.

Heaven knows what’s going to come out of that Stargate thing…Cthulhu or something maybe.

I’ve been using Grok AI to assist with some microcontroller programming (PIC12F1840, DS3231 RTC, DS18B20 Temperature, WS2812b IARGB LEDs). I beat my head against my desk for a week trying to interface to the temp sensor, and then I realized that Grok gave me the WRONG COMMANDS to send to the device. When I told Grok, it just said “Oh, you’re right – so sorry” and that was it. GRRRRRRR.

I don’t think AI is going to take over programming jobs any time soon, and if you use AI for an assist, DOUBLE-CHECK everything it suggests.

I had enough of these little “Tee-hee, I screwed up” moments with Grok that I don’t use it to assist with programming anymore.
