They didn’t shout TIMBERRRRRR :(

A few years ago, the tree was sick but not dead. Then it was full of rook nests.
When it died completely, the rooks left but the jackdaws would come and perch on the branches and chirp in the evening. A score or more.
I thought I would miss it more than I do, but it was a source of significant anxiety – only a matter of time before it came down on its own. The prevailing wind should have pushed it into the sheep field behind us, but there was a non-zero chance it would take out Uncle B’s greenhouse and maybe even the whole back of the house.
Two guys, three hours, start to finish.

I’m glad you got it taken down by experts. Living in hurricane territory as I do I’m all too familiar with the results of “uncontrolled tree removal.” I hope you got to keep the firewood!

It’s willow, not the best of woods for burning, and the effort involved in cutting it into stove-sized pieces would be impractical. But you bet we looked at all that wood and sighed.

No cherry picker?
We had a post oak taken down. Victim of a life burning strike. We made a rail fence out of some of it. Talk about your good wood.

Too bad, stoaty, there’s no good way to burn it for heat, but I just noticed that there are only 71 shopping days until the 5th of November.

I haven’t commented in quite a long time, and this is really off-topic, but: Mayah Sommers. All I’m getting from the news is the usual libtarded horse hockey. What’s the real deal from the UK on this girl?
