Watch with us!

Tonight, the Lewes bonfire. There are bonfires in Sussex from September to December, but everyone (well, mostly everyone) leaves the proper November 5 date for Lewes, because of the 17 protestant martyrs burned at the stake in that town. Last I knew their guy was still the pope, too.

The celebrations have gotten so huge, they have tried to tone them down. Trains don’t run into town and the papers beg people not to come. Last year, we streamed it live on YouTube and it was very interesting – lots of historic tid bits (the English say tit-bits, by the way, which makes me snicker).

As of this posting, it’s just past 5:00 and nearly dark. It should start before long.

SCRATCH THAT: this is a much better stream.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
