Fog of war

attack

I don’t have any local insights on this one. We are, fortunately, nowhere near Westminster.

The map is making the rounds of Twitter. It supposedly shows people on Al-Jazeera’s Facebook(?) page reacting to the news, but why would it put the laughing faces and thumbs ups dotted around the map like that? That’s not how likes work.

Twitter also was first to report that the shooter was hate preacher Abu Izzadeen (born Trevor Richard Brooks of Jamaican descent in East London) and the first to report that Izzadeen’s lawyer says it can’t be him, he’s in jail. (Sure looks like the guy, though).

So basically all we know is four dead (including the, or a, attacker and a policeman), twenty injured and Twitter is an unreliable narrator.

Nothing to worry about, certainly not a terrorist or anything.

Probably just a Rastafarian angry over some slur against Haile Selassie I.

Happens every day. Sigh.

Sweas – Thought of you today when driving in to work: saw a “I love my pet chickens” bumper sticker!

I would have thought it was those pesky Amish again, but he used a car, so – probably not.

I wonder how Trump caused it to happen? His immigration policy angered the poor lad?

The news here had a clip of the London Mayor saying something like “terrorism is part and parcel of living in big cities”. Very comforting.

I remember during one of the intifadas when the terrorists were blowing up civilians in Israel. Muslim websites were hotlinking photos of the injured and dead and yucking up over it. So, Israeli hackers photoshopped dead muslim terrorists in the pictures.

They said 2 women died. I saw 2 women being comforted at the scene. Both looked pretty seriously injured but conscious.

In the news here this morning, the first reaction of the MSNBC correspondent in London was to worry that the “incident” would “put the wind in the sails of the right wing movement”. For some reason, I don’t think that is the biggest worry over there. Unless, of course, you are on the side of the terrorists.

Glad you are nowhere near London. Stay safe.

The emojis show up like that on a Facebook live feed, they float across the screen as the broadcast airs.

Thanks for the info, Paperpiercer. I did not know that.

Is it wrong that I can never remember the difference between ‘intifada’ and ‘antifa’?

No, one has murdered many people and the other is a start up in the murder biz.

It’s probably Mennonites. They look much like Amish but are allowed to drive.

No doubt Winston Churchill would give a rousing speech at this time in Parliament about oceans, beaches, landing grounds, streets and hills, about laying piles of flowers, assembling mighty armies of teddybears, and tweeting feeling tweets to these modern huns in an unflinching and steadfast British way to drive this evil into the sea. Take heart England! America will lend you fields of flowers, armies of teddy bears, and the might of our tweet armada will prove unstoppable in your hour of need.

All too often in the field of human conflict have so many been so useless in stopping so few. Somewhere a very angry short man with a cigar in his mouth is wondering why he bothered.

I’m old. I have health problems. I can no longer outrun a SUV. So, yes, I would be nervous schlepping around London and other european capitals. Not that I care much about dying but I dont want to be murdered in the name of the effin moon god.
