Dead Pool Round 137: Positively the last of 2020. I hope.

I accidentally hit ‘publish’ on this Dead Pool two hours ago. Took me a minute to stuff it back in the box. I hope I didn’t disappoint anyone!

ExpressoBold takes it with Chuck Yeager. One of these days, I have to get around to reading The Right Stuff.

Drop me a line, ExpressoBold. I’m walking through the old Dead Pools one by one, making a list, trying to figure out who I’ve shorted, and I think I owe you at least one more.

Is errrbody ready? Then less begin.

0. Rule Zero (AKA Steve’s Rule): your pick has to be living when picked. Also, nobody whose execution date is circled on the calendar. Also, please don’t kill anybody. Plus (Pupster’s Rule) no picking someone who’s only famous for being the oldest person alive.

1. Pick a celebrity. Any celebrity — though I reserve the right to nix picks I never heard of (I don’t generally follow the Dead Pool threads carefully, so if you’re unsure of your pick, call it to my attention).

2. We start from scratch every time. No matter who you had last time, or who you may have called between rounds, you have to turn up on this very thread and stake your claim.

3. Poaching and other dirty tricks positively encouraged.

4. Your first choice sticks. Don’t just blurt something out, m’kay? Also, make sure you have a correct spelling of your choice somewhere in your comment. These threads get longish and I use search to figure out if we have a winner.

5. It’s up to you to search the thread and make sure your choice is unique. I’m waayyyy too lazy to catch the dupes. Popular picks go fast.

6. The pool stays open until somebody on the list dies. Feel free to jump in any time. Noobs, strangers, drive-bys and one-comment-wonders — all are welcome.

7. If you want your fabulous prize, you have to entrust me with a mailing address. If you’ve won before, send me your address again. I don’t keep good records.

8. The new DeadPool will begin 6pm WBT (Weasel’s Blog Time) the Friday after the last round is concluded.

The winner, if the winner chooses to entrust me with a mailing address, will receive an Official Certificate of Dick Winning and a small original drawing on paper suffused with elephant shit particles. Because I’m fresh out of fairy shit particles.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein. There are growing reports in the Senate that her mental capacity and memory are declining rapidly. She will not step down, of course. Democrats cling to power above all. Things may make it necessary for the Nomenklatura to arrange an accident if she screws something up.

Well crap, late again. The wife had the ‘Rona 3 weeks ago and I waited till Wednesday to get the antibody test.
Results came back today….negative dammit! So I have something to look forward to…BTW, she felt poopy for about 5 days with only a mild fever, cough and body aches. She admitted she felt much worse with the regular flu over the years.
We’re both over 60 but in good health; been taking vitamin C and D every day (secret magic pills!) since March. My Doc said it was rare I didn’t get it. While talking in the exam room he dropped his mask, said in so many words the mask mandate was bullshit and said, like all viruses, we will all get it eventually (he said he tested positive several months ago and had no symptoms!). I asked him about the death rate attributed to the virus and he actually asked me if I had read the John Hopkins study showing no increase in the world’s total death rate due to Covid. He added with a wry smile, “Follow the science”. Sadly he’s retiring in March.
OH yeah, Dead Pool…Jerry Nadler has at least one co-morbidity, let’s go with him.

Just heard that Tanya Roberts has (finally) died. Not sure if her death was before or after I posted. Anyone know time of death?

Comment from Carl
Time: January 5, 2021, 8:09 pm

Mrs Carl isn’t sure whether she has won or not. At the time she posted the name (12.35 pm GMT) it was reported that, contrary to earlier reports, Tanya Roberts was still alive. However, it now seems that her partner was notified of her death at 5.35 am GMT, though the news was not in the public domain until much later.

Swease, we need a rule clarification here. Perhaps it could be acceptable if the contestant submitted the name before news of the death was released.

Mrs Carl says that she wouldn’t be too upset if you decreed that she has not won this time.
