Lookit this!

I got my machine back a couple of hours ago. They charged an eye-watering price for putting the drive in for me (never again – next time we bull through it ourselves).

But look at this! Is there anything more beautiful than a two terabyte SSD with one folder on it? I’m so looking forward to corralling my games in this one place. I shall bring them all to heel!

My house may be chaotic, but my hard drives – when I have the capacity – are neat as a pin.

Congratulations on successfully joining the stupid-big and stupid-fast storage club! I’ve got a pair of those 2T SSDs in my notebook. At age 75 I’m almost certain to be dead before running out of space, and if not I’ll be so old that I just won’t GAS.

I understand the incentive to have a pro geek do the tech work. Getting inside my laptop to replace the main drive (a piddly .5T) and fill the 2nd bay was barely inside my tolerance limits. Full sized desktop and tower units are a breeze; laptops not so much. But I do have a full set of Torx drivers which helps.

I’m an inheritor myself. The latest is a gaming server, some ridiculous Americans but of storage, tied to a buffalo
That has a ridiculous arm until of storage.

Games, yeah. Lot of DOS based stuff I can’t use.
But all the music I own from when Amazon and Apple thought they might let you own it and a mess of music from CDs back when the computer had a DVD drive.

Wide open spaces on those drives.

Eh, we cracked open my machine and realized we’d need a 2.5″ caddy which we didn’t have. Also, we seemed to have weirdly few extra cables, given I put a 1000 watt power supply in not long ago.

The technician did advise me (I asked) that I could take a more up-to-date graphics card. He showed me links to two: one was £500 and the other was £800. And he said that was cheap.

Damn you, Bitcoin!

19 years of Steam, and I’m ashamed of how many games are in my library (not really). 4Tb SSD (just for games) here and it’s almost halfway full…

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
