Scarcity

Ugh. The memory shortages have hit the Raspberry Pi supply. You can either get a very basic one or a very souped up one for way more than a Chromebook. You can’t upgrade a Pi, so you have to buy it with all the capability you think you’ll need.
A Pi 5 with 1 gig of RAM is £43.20. The same one with 16 gigs is £292.80. That’s something else.
But that’s not the scarcity I wanted to talk about. On account of drought, the harvest here is a month or more ahead of usual and yield is awful. We’ve had repeated warnings of shortages come winter. And the rest of Europe can’t bail us out – they’ve had drought, too.
At the moment, we get a fairly low percentage of our food from the US and Canada, but if we have real shortages that could change. Not to be personal or anything, but how’s your harvest this year?
