The old card with the new card in his arms

cards

By gum, that’s a big-ass video card. It fit in the case, just. For an awful moment, I thought I didn’t have the right power connector — the old one had two banks of six pins, and this one had a bank of six and a bank of eight — but I found that my old power supply had an extra two pin connector zip-tied to the cable for just such an eventuality.

‘Scuse me, I’m off to play the Witcher Wild Hunt, with that last bit of new DLC.

Oh, by the way, I haven’t disabled the rating system, it’s just not working somehow. I started to hunt down the problem and fix it, but I’m kind of torn. On the one hand, I really liked being able to rate comments, but on the other hand I didn’t think this particular widget was very good. Sometimes I had to refresh the page before my vote would take, and the rating thingie popped up at unwanted times sometimes.

Did y’all have problems with it, too?

The comment system was fun at the beginning but I just tuned it out after a while.

That is a kickass looking graphics card…happy gaming!

*Ahem* … Since you asked an opinion:

A) I liked the idea of a comment-rating system, mainly because many of the comments are really quite on-point, informative, and generally kick-ass.

B) I found the now-defunct system to be a little irritating from time to time because it popped up or got in the way when … well … when I didn’t want it to.

C) I’ve consciously enjoyed the absence of the now-defunct system, because of B, above.

D) I don’t wish for you to expend any effort fixing the old one. Rather, I would prefer that you casually – as you’re meandering on the byways and highways of the inter-web-thingy-net – discover a better system. You know, in the fullness of time … more or less. Maybe. Perhaps.

E) I still think that card-thingy is a hovercraft in drag, or sumpin.

It seems Obama and lefty brits are having a hissy fit over the appointment of Boris as foreign secretary. LOL

Maybe you can configure it to mine Bitcoins or something while you aren’t otherwise using it!

That is a big card. Just looked at mine and it’s only a GTX 670. Now I have video card envy.

The rating system can be fun, but not worth taking up chikkin posts to deal with it!

And…Lady May created a brand new post — Ministry of Brexit.

Confused yet again. How can she do that? Isn’t there some kind of oversight by somebody? I mean, she can reward all her BFFs with their very own made-up Ministry. Its getting weird again.

BTW, do the fans speed up and slow down depending on the complexity of the display? Does it heat the house?

I’m still having issues, Janna. I’ve got it going, but I have to turn it off and on several times before it lights up. Clearly a short somewhere. I’ll have to get it sorted while it’s still under warranty.

Yep, Tom, it’s like choosing sides for kickball; they can pick who they want. I suppose the POTUS does, too, with his cabinet.

The card is relatively quiet until I kick up something punishing, like The Witcher with all the graphics sliders turned up to Ultra. The it sounds like a 747 taking off. I don’t hear it over the sound of slashing nekkers, but I feel bad for Uncle B. The sound drives him crazy. At least it’s not as high-pitched as the old card.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
