What do you see?

I see a weasel sucking his paw.

I said to Uncle B, “look – a weasel!” and for some reason he thought I was staring at the mortar between the stones. I think he thought I was tripping.

From the same church as Saturday’s fete.

I see the weasel.

The whole thing looks like an unkempt rabbit head, though.

Maybe the stone mason was tripping? How old is the church? I thought it was a gnarled tree limb at first.

Hm. I had to look it up, Deborah. It’s a Norman church, but built on the site of a Saxon one. It’s mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, but I reckon the current building is mostly 12th C.

Surely to be expected at St Stoaty’s?

WhatEVER the heck it is or looks like, I got a good chuckle from Stoaty’s photo’s file name: ecclesiastiwzl.jpg

Honestly, I’m with @Deborah HH. My first thought was gnarled trunk or aerial vine/root, and the more I look at it, the more I think so.

I thought you were about to show us some kinda medieval stone mason porn or something.

But yeah, I see a pointed nosy thing chewing it’s own paw.

Looks like a dragon to me. . .but as weathered as it is, who can say?

Is that St. Nicholas? I think I’ve seen that portal…in the 90’s we attended a fair few weddings in home county churches

Uncle Al, when I named the file, I wondered if anyone would ever notice.

There is a St Nicholas around here, BJM, but this is yet another St Mary’s.

Prolly not the same one. It seemed smaller to me. On camera, I thought it was a coon!

No, no raccoons here.

I know my eyes are getting old, but at first glance I thought it looked like a really odd belly button.

BJM has an interesting thought. Have you checked the property line looking for sharp slash marks?

Omigosh, AliceH – I didn’t even see it! Of course that’s why I thought ‘weasel’!
