I finally came to one
Spotted on my way to the lecture last night. If I told you the answer is “I went straight” you’d think I was a criminal before (or a lesbian).
I’ve been sitting in the comfy chair snoozing all afternoon. They made me work a five-day week, y’all – and two of them were 9-5! Oh, the humanity!
That photo came straight off my camera and this laptop saves images huge. So I fixed it using an online file compression service that worked a treat, and all they want is for me to share their url on my social media.
There you go. I’m probably all loaded up with Russian viruses now.
Good weekend, everyone!

I did leave it lying there! I picked it up, and then I thought…now what? Put it in my pocket? So I put it back down again.
For all I know, it’s right there right now.

I left 40 hour work week many years ago. Hubby and I long ago discovered you can’t both work full time and live. Can’t have deliveries, repairmen, etc when no one is home. So several years ago, when working in Boston, I agreed to shift my regular day off in conjunction with weekend work to allow a young co-worker a few days off for wedding planning. That meant I had to work 5 days in a row…something I hadn’t done in almost 20 years. It damn near killed me. My co-workers (all 20+ years younger than me) enjoyed my misery but made it all worth while with chocolate cake and Prosecco at days end. And the co-worker I did it all for was a beautiful bride…

@stoaty…if you email images to yourself your phone should have an attachment setting that offers a choice of size and compresses before sending. However, as they say; your mileage may differ

@Armybrat…a 40 hour work week?! Luxury.
I was self-employed and worked 60+ hours until I was in my mid-60’s.
Now I’ve retired to a rural property and working 80 hour work weeks. I’ll sleep when I’m dead.

@BJM – my advice, keep at it, and you won’t sleep by dying any time soon.
The East Texas property things I can’t do (roofing and earth moving) are being done by ‘kids’ (36-40) who now own the company their dad’s started or worked in.
The “old man” of 70 was running the excavator for the earth moving and the “old man” of 69 was running bundles of shingles up on the roof bare backed in the August sun. And from what we saw, was doing about twice the work of the younger guys on the crew.
My dad’s family was a bunch of factory working machinists and Thanksgiving was always a time for them to catch up on old friends they knew in common at the different plants, especially if someone had retired during the last year.
“Oh, Thoitsie retired last week”. Generally that was at the ripe old age of 62 with his GE or United Shoe Machinery pension.
Being city folk, there wasn’t a lot of country boy hard work for them to do when they retired.
Inevitably we’d get the report at a subsequent Thanksgiving in the short term – “Ah, Thoitsie dropped dead last week”.
So, don’t stop, Boomer. 🙂

@Durned Stop? no way…I got stuff to learn. We of a certain age group have a strong work ethic instilled by parents who lived through the Great Drepression and WWII. It has served us in good stead.
Technically I ain’t a Boomer I’m a war baby…conceived on furlough and born the week Dad hit the beach with Patton who broke out of Normandy turning 3rd Army “east, west, and south behind the German lines and went looking for trouble.”
Apparently they found it.😉
The Brits and Americans had some truly magnificent men leading the Allies. In contrast to today’s woke pantywaists.

@BJM…in my defense 😜 I worked my entire career in ICUs, from neonatal on up. Trust me when I say there is a cap on how much human misery and family disfunction one can stand to deal with every week!
