Happy birthdays all around!
Tomorrow is Sam’s 8th birthday (4th of July is why he’s called Sam). Everyone asked me today what I’m doing and the answer is…nothing. The Fourth was never a favorite of mine – it was hot wherever I lived and the last thing I wanted to do was stand over a grill.
Then there was the year I climbed up on the roof to watch the fireworks and the neighbors fired bottle rockets at me.

Why did we think being on the roof was a better view? Like, we were ten feet closer to the sky? In the overcast bay area I grew up in it was an exercise of watching flashes of color through the fog…bottle rockets were far more interesting.

Weasie, hopefully the enemedia in the UK will show the fireworks planned for D.C. on Saturday evening. According to Glenn Beck (who did an exhaustive report on the average number of mortars set off on average displays). Macy’s sets off 85,000 fireworks; Washington has 850,000 on tap! Trump has billed it the biggest fireworks display in history.
