Merry Christmas Stoaty, Uncle B and readers!

As for loot, I got a metal detector and an engagement ring.

Using the detector, which I’ve wanted for months, to find the ring was an especially nice touch.

God bless us, everyone. πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas Y’all! The little turkey (a Butterball breast) is baking, and I am taking a break from the rest of the dinner prep (cornbread dressing and turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, and steamed fresh veggie medley of yellow squash, broccoli, spinach and carrots).

It’s warm and windy here on Canyon Lake (68 degrees at 10am, and 18 mph), and if I had a little sailboat I’d be on the lake instead of cooking.

Santa brought us each a new computer so we have lot of reading and studying to do! (not to mention crying)

Best Wishes Everyone πŸ™‚

I didn’t get much, but I’m in snowy Oslo, so that’s pretty good all by itself

Congrats, Becca! That’s a clever way to pop the question, innint it?

Merry Christmas to all, here and across the briny sea, even that guy in NZ.

Merry Christmas all! Congrats Becca! I got a cheese making kit and hubby got some bacon flavored popcorn! We’re putting a prime rib in the oven soon, truffle mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, cherry pie and a couple bottles of a nice Amerone. Friends will be arriving in a few hours. Life is GREAT!

Smoked ham and almond kringle for breakfast. Santa was good to me. A Morse key for my computer, a tea compote, and a book of Gary Larson cartoons. Mom got a Kindle Fire HD, sister got a collapsible composter, and my sister’s dog got the ham bone. Everybody is happy.

Like my neighbor Deborah, the day here in the Hill Country started out all balmy and nice. Many fine cocktails later it’s about 32F out on the porch and blowing a gale. Belch. That said, the roast was fine, the egg nog well hooched, the kids and dog got many new toys, Mrs. Skridlow’s happy, and all is well in the house. Merry Christmas all.

Only went to one family fight, and a car in the ditch, whose driver hit chunk of ice the size of a coffee can, and lost control. No injuries, and the car wasn’t damaged. All in all, not too bad of a Christmas. We shall see what New Year’s Eve brings..

Becca, HUZZAH!

Scott –
Your post reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from Aldous Huxley; from an obscure little book called Chrome Yellow. It’s a fitting way to bring our official Christmas Day posts to a close. The narrator of the story is giving a departing guest his hat and coat, and offers this bit of advice:

“Tonight is a night for celebration. It is the anniversary of the greatest event in Western Civilization, of an event that changed everything on earth for all time. It is the anniversary of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. So take great care -practically everyone you see on the highway will be drunk.”

Merry Christmas, to all, and to all a good night!
