Mine. Get your own.

Okay, so it’s looking like the administration deliberately leaked the IRS-leaning-on-Obama’s-enemies story. I guess the thought was, it was going to break anyway, why not use it to knock Benghazi off the front page?

I’m thinking. Maybe. This was not so smart. The media, possibly stung by the idea there really was a there there in Benghazi and they should probably have been covering it, decided this IRS stuff was just really…not cool, guys.

But this AP phone records story? May be the stupidest thing this bunch of bozos has done to date. Two months worth of phone records for New York, Washington, Hartford and the main number for the AP in the House of Representatives press gallery, plus personal numbers. Outgoing, possibly incoming. The AP’s not sure yet.

If it was meant to be a Chicago-style warning, it was more of an “oh, hai — we have fucked up your relationship with your current and potential sources, possibly forever, and we know a whole bunch of stuff about your bidness that we shouldn’t. Kthxbai.”

Our journalist friends think a whole hell of a lot of themselves. This is going to move the media to rage, just when the administration needs them most.

I know, I know…this cascade of revelations seems awfully contrived, and maybe it is. But, if so, I don’t think it’s going to turn out quite the way they planned.

Popcorn is really hard to identify in black and white. The things I learn through this blog.

I don’t doubt the media will pick itself up and swing into step behind him. But this is like the first time your abusive boyfriend gives you a black eye. It’s still love, but never quite the same again.

I still smell a sucker punch. One of these current scandals will suddenly resolve itself with little or nothing to do with the Administration. You know the rest of the story – it was all a setup. Nothing to see here, move along. Mean, Partisan Republicans – can’t trust ’em – always accusing the innocent of bad things. Shame on them. Squirrel!

We need to focus on Benghazi, and let the Tea Party groups sue the IRS and the Democrat Party (which has all but admitted it was their operation) under the Federal RICO statutes.

There’s been a lot of evidence that the Obama administration has been really annoying the media with its stunts of intimidation, threats, leaning on reporters, throwing a fit when an interview isn’t rimming enough, and shutting out the press to make special in-house movies cut to be exactly what they like.

The press right now seems to have bust a seam on these latest bits, its just a bit too much for them to swallow. And nobody likes the IRS, its a fear of everyone, everywhere (especially in the media) that they’ll get reamed by the IRS for saying something the government doesn’t like.

But it won’t matter, not a bit. This won’t change things. The press will close the circle of wagons again.

I think* that Obama is going to resign, Biden will name Hillary as his VP, and sometime after 2014 will step aside. Or he’ll be assassinated by a right wing extremist so Hillary can ride the wave of sympathy into the election and take action against her political opponents. Voila, Hillary gets 10 years of President, even better than Bill. And by 2015 Chelsea will be old enough…

* I don’t really think any of this is likely, but it isn’t impossible.

I think this was just the time that theone and his caretakers lost control. One can only manage so many strings on a puppet before it all fails. This is an administration that believes they are smarter than anybody else. They are smart enough to control it all. Except when it all rolls up at once. Then, these people who are smarter than the rest of us, attempt to convince the rest of of us that (1) this is all an illusion, (2) everybody else is a liar (3) it’s a conspiracy of the GOP, whereupon the weeper of the house grabs his crotch, confirms his lack of balls and agrees to agree with any DNC/whitehouse utterance.

Comment from JeffS

Jeff, that sounds logical, but there’s good reason to believe Hillary and Obama hate each other. Recall the 2008 election, where Hillary and Bill were after Obama, tooth and nail. It was only after Ted Kennedy (piss be upon his grave) endorsed Obama did the Clinton Clan fall into line.

And the only reason that Obama ever took her into his cabinet was the need to keep Bill Clinton on his side. Especially after Kennedy kicked the bucket, and Clinton was the de facto Senior Person of the Dhimmicrats.

And dear President Stompy Foot is way too narcissistic to ever resign. If he is impeached, they’ll have to send in a company of Marines with crowbars to pry his fingers away from the desk in the Oval Office.

And handing his “legacy” over to his token white boy, Biden The Clown? Even Obama has more dignity than that.

Conceded, what you posit is possible. I just think it’s unlikely.

Me, I think that Obama will spin and lie as long as he can, and use his considerable influence to make life hell for his opponents. That’s what happens in Chicago, after all.

I submit to you that this is still more “cleverness” from Barky and his trainers. Cleverness plus they’re laying a large bet believing the odds are well in their favor (and they just may well be good odds at that). Boobus Americanus is now close to numbed-out and dumbed-down by scandal after scandal going back a generation or two. Look at what were considered impeachable offenses for Dickie 40 years ago; no big deal today. So, rather than have the Benghazi, IRS, AP wiretaps, and perhaps a few more yet-to-break scandals drag out serially, the PTB are dumping them on us in parallel betting that when it all sits there in a stinking pile of political compost no one will have the stomach to touch it.

Personally, I think they’ll get away with it unless they make any more mistakes in the gun owner control arena, especially if we get another Ruby Ridge or Waco. Then the shooting starts and it’ll be very asymmetrical and very diffused with a fair number of very well-armed and fairly well-trained people who are mad as Hell, refuse to take any more shit, and are willing to kill any bastard who just refuses to leave ’em alone.

@Oceania: .303 is good; I’m a .30-06 guy myself. Quite similar.

Stay tuned – but I don’t think Obama impeachment is in the offing except for sound bites “This is clearly impeachable!” snorts Senator Blowhard who promises a full investigation. Sure. All con and BS.

First off, Obama is the worst thing outside of Pelosi for the democratic party – just let the imbecile in the White House keep doing what he does and he will go from the Obamessiah to jack-ass buffoon in the public’s eye. I am surprised it has taken this long – he really is an idiot; a creature of American media.

He is nothing but an image of a president; personally, I never thought of him as an American president. He has been for me a kind of novelty media figure; you know the late-night comedy show appearances; the utterly stoopid political policies; bad executive management, no leadership, on and on.

Just keep your head down, this asshat will send the IRS after you, attack you with a drone, and DHS has enough guns and ammo to kill everyone in the US several times over.

But remember, we all seem to fall into the trap of assigning too much significance to these government goons. Yes they are destructive assholes but America will survive, the American people are great, life is wonderful; just lie low and stay away from these f#cks. Oh, one more hot tip, don’t accept any presidential appointments like ambassador to anywhere.

Don’t forget the $750 that it will cost you to renounce your US citizenship.

But the ‘exit interviews’, where they try to talk you out of renouncing, should be comedy gold and provide enough material for at least a few posts.

I don’t think Teh One and cabal are being clever with this–far from it. Obama has consistently forgotten the iron rule of politics: the backscratching has to be *mutual*. He thinks it only goes one way. Lots of pissed-off Democrats that didn’t get bupkis for doing all the hard work of getting him elected, dragging Obamacare over the line with massive cheating, et. cetera ad infinitum. He has no friends. NONE. I believe what we are seeing is Insty’s famous preference cascade. Further, I think there are more buried bodies. I agree he *might* be able to skate the current scandals, but the tsunami of revelations indicates that a lot of people think he’s lost control and it’s safe (or safer) to act on their true wishes to smack him around. Somebody has found the Big Scandal, and is discreetly spreading the word to certain power brokers in DC. We may never know what the Big Scandal is–but the little scandals can still do him in.

I also doubt we’ll get impeachment, certainly no resignation that doesn’t involve a doctor’s note and involuntary commitment, but if his protective layer of minions is ripped away we could see some highly entertaining public tantrums that will diminish his power to the vanishing point.

I grew up in Hyde Park in Chicago, which at that time (IDK if it’s still true) was in ward represented by an Independent (back when Dems on the South Side saw Hizzoner for what he was). It was ROUTINE for the City to rip up our streets and sidewalks and leave them that way whenever our alderman didn’t vote “correctly,” and the use of City employees, both for political campaigning and intimidation of critics, was routine. Then again, my grandparents remembered the Gray Wolves and Bathhouse Coughlin and Hinky Dink McKenna, so this was “the way”. The more I watch this, the more I have a feeling a deja vu all over again… and it wasn’t nice. There is a reason I left Chicago…
