Happy anniversary!

agincourt

Another one. Magna Carta 800. Waterloo 200. Plague of London 350. This year has been a corker. Must be something about decade years.

And now Agincourt 600. The actual anniversary was yesterday, and I’m really surprised how little there was on the news or in general.

Maybe we’re all anniversaried out. Maybe we’re trying not to offend our best buds the Frenchies. Dunno.

Anyway, click over to the website. It’s good.

This gives me goosebumps every time.

Branagh’s Henry and Much Ado are among my favs in his filmography.

(btw-Can you spot a very young Christian Bale in the cast?)

Sunday was also the 71rst Anniversary of TAFFY 3, Now THAT would make one heck of a movie! Three USN destroyers and a destroyer escort take on 3 Japanese battleships, 4 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers, and 11 destroyers, and chase them off, admittedly at the price of 2 destroyers, and the destroyer escort.

I’m looking forward to celebrating the anniversaries of the sacking of Washington, D.C., by Americans who finally get so disgusted and angry that we simply won’t take it any more.

I’ll be there. In fact, I’m almost there already.

…If we are mark’d to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour…
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers…

Indeed it would. And that movie will never be made. No producer, no director, no studio, and no modern actor would make a film that in telling the truth about what actually happened, reflected glory and honor on our country.

Yeah, yeah, Henry V tromped the uppity Frogs and married the princess, making himself king.

But Henry VI gave it all back, so whatever, yannow?
