…and then the rains came…
This picture. It’s part of the wedding ritual of the Kwakwaka’wakw tribe.
I am NOT making that up.
I was looking for old footage of somebody baling out a canoe, because that’s what I’ve been doing to my kitchen all evening. We haven’t had rain in ages (driest October in a thousand years, or some shit) and then the heavens opened for a couple of hours.
So, like an old fishing smack, our kitchen roof had dried out and the seams opened up. It was leaking in parallel lines across the stove and working surfaces. Yay.
Fortunately, the kitchen is the only room in the house that does this, as far as we can tell, and it doesn’t do it often. The frame of it is old, but the roof is Seventies. Like Nineteen-Seventies, brrrr.
Anyway. All clean. Hamburgers tonight. It’s the weekend, w00t!

We used to have a shake roof that would dry up and form gaps during the summer. The first winter rains would stain the ceiling. One year the stained area was really wet so we looked in the attic and discovered a leaking water pipe. I guess it had been that way for while, slowly getting worse. So we got repiped and reroofed.

I heard British burgers taste kind of Wimpy….
And I love that wedding ceremony…I may get divorced just so I can dress up like a giant bird and cruise around in a war canoe for my second wedding. Besides, it looks obvious that drugs are involved.

I thought you had a thatched roof, being in rural Merry Olde and all…

We have the same problem due to dryness. Didnt think that wd be an issue in the UK. At least you cant burn the place down tonight with your murderous celebrations. 🙂 Popery4Evah!!1!
Watched 1 episode of the Crown. Not my cup of tea. Weird that they portrayed her as hesitant when she did her vows (and not over the obey thing). The Queen was wild about her guy and quite eager to get married and bed him. She had her great grandma’s genes in that regard. Prince Phillip is one of the few guys today that has not been neutered — still politically incorrect and bawdy. Good for him. 😉
