Poor bird

The (British) National Gallery’s Picture of the Month this month is Joseph Wright of Darby’s “An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump.”

I’m indebted to Uncle B for introducing me to this painter — and, in particular, this painting — years ago. Wright lived in the late 18th C and has been called the first painter of the Industrial Revolution.

Do click through and look at the painting in full, in color. He was famous for chiaroscuro and clever light effects, and the character studies are excellent. Whether the scientist sucks alllll the life out of the poor cockatiel is unclear.

And yes — Deborah HH has won another dick with Epstein. Even though it was the most predicted suicide in the history of predicted suicides, I’m still stunned by the brazenness of this one. But, you know — whadre we gonna do about it, eh? New Dead Pool Friday.

Wanna feel old? Sure you do!

Remember the couple hugging on the cover of the Woodstock album? They found them.

On a happier note, they’re still together on a farm upstate.

Too Old To Rock ‘n’ Roll: Too Young To Die

The old Rocker wore his hair too long,
wore his trouser cuffs too tight.
Unfashionable to the end — drank his ale too light.
Death’s head belt buckle — yesterday’s dreams —
the transport caf’ prophet of doom.
Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams
in his post-war-babe gloom.

Now he’s too old to Rock’n’Roll but he’s too young to die.

He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville.
Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs
and prays that he always will.
But he’s the last of the blue blood greaser boys
all of his mates are doing time:
married with three kids up by the ring road
sold their souls straight down the line.
And some of them own little sports cars
and meet at the tennis club do’s.
For drinks on a Sunday — work on Monday.
They’ve thrown away their blue suede shoes.

Now they’re too old to Rock’n’Roll and they’re too young to die.

So the old Rocker gets out his bike
to make a ton before he takes his leave.
Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be.
And as he flies — tears in his eyes —
his wind-whipped words echo the final take
and he hits the trunk road doing around 120
with no room left to brake.

And he was too old to Rock’n’Roll but he was too young to die.
No, you’re never too old to Rock’n’Roll if you’re too young to die.

I thought Epstein would be shivved—not a suicide. But it was still a surprise.

@Deborah HH – The ME hasn’t called it suicide…yet.

Epstein and the brazenness of it all is, as the French would say, pour encourager les autres.

The only thing missing at this point is Captain Renault assuring us they will quickly “round up the usual suspects”.

Epstein had dirt on everybody, the people who did this have people who will, and now brazenly, send you to sleep beneath the dirt.

So many suspects and criminals, so few honest men to catch them.

I’m thinking witness protection instead of a shiv or bedsheets. What happens to the Pool if that’s the case? The whole process would be in doubt.

Epstein should be thankful they didn’t off him in the air pump. . . .

If he’s in Witsec, we’ll never know, so the win counts, right?

Jeff’s business was investing all right, investing in blackmail evidence and I’ll bet business was very very good.

Evidence that leads to Area 51 and Roswell and
I’m not saying it’s aliens, but

Dear Lady Weasel, y’all probably have figured out by now that I am an iconoclastic sort. I’ve done a bunch of things in life, settling on being a Peace Officer and retired after 28 years. I am a cynical bugger, and in my time I have worked suicide watches and know proper procedure.

This was a freaking football-bat. No on the Witness Protection. This is high-powered pervert protection by a disgraceful part [I hope it is just part, but that’s as far as I’ll go.] of the Federal LEA’s. Legitimacy is based on trust. For the last 4 decades at least, that trust has been betrayed.

Subotai, I don’t understand your vernacular. A football-bat? What does that mean?

It’s pretty obvious this was not a real suicide. And while the ME can show Xrays of some neck bones, until Epstein’s body is put on public display I can’t 100% deny that he wasn’t swapped out for some other stiff, and is living cozy somewhere in the far South Pacific. He had too much dirt on too many powerful people, and it’s a certainty he had “dead man’s switches” that would publish that info if he suddenly turned up dead. He was a sicko perv, but he wasn’t stupid.

This entire event is dirty and corrupt in every way. And it’s all in your face; “they” don’t care if you know, because you can’t do anything about it. “They” own the media, the politicians, the courts, LEAs, and the cops.
