Ending the week on a cat

A giant fiberglass cat. I mean, this thing is LARGE. I tried to find dimensions, without luck (I admit, I didn’t try that hard). It’s balanced on top of a shopping center sign in a place called Catford.

Heh. It’s an area of southeast London, probably originally ‘cattle ford’ as there’s a river there. The shopping center that built it in 1974 is long since gone and a succession of different stores moved in under it. They made noises about tearing it down a few years ago, but the locals went nuts and got up a petition.

If you want to know more — and why would you? — Google the Catford Cat. Have a wunnerful weekend!

Don’t be silly
Course it’s always been Cat Ford.
That’s where they herded the cats across the river to market in the olden days.
Great riding cats from the south of England.
The breed has died out now, owing to people being leery of buying them because they sometimes turn on their riders and eat them.
Yes indeed.

Otherwise why would people say “it’s like herding cats”.
You can only say that if someone has done it you know.

ya know? It is never just one thing. You start with a map of cat ford london england, just to orientate yourself. Next you want a little history of cat ford london england, and the next thing you know, you are looking at the history of London, England.

Hours later, you are hungry, and there is nothing to eat. You may ask yourself, ‘How did I get here?’ Once in a lifetime.

Can’t believe how easy I found it on Gooogle maps street-view. Just searched for Catford, UK and clicked on the center of town and poof there it was!

When I first looked at the picture I thought it said “Catfood Centre”, and I thought “Wow, a whole shopping center dedicated to cat food, they must really like their cats!”.
