On the Second Day of Chickmas

And here they are, all growed up, in the same order. This is obviously before Moe decided Sam Had To Die. The boys all have to be separated now.

My chickens are a disappointment in black and white. They really are very pretty birds.

Is errbody ready for Christmas?

Ready for the Christmas Lasagna –

the sauce is cooking even as I type this.

Other than that, uh, not a decoration to be seen.
Maybe next year when the littlest Durned brings back some of the magic we seem to have lost (or abandoned).

I wish all the other figmentary Weasel friends, and Weasel and Uncle B of course, a very Merry Christmas and hope you all have a remarkably wonderful new year in 2020.

Christmas starts in just a few hours and I am about to start cooking our seafood Christmas Eve dinner – not quite an true feast of seven fishes but seafood paella and king crab comes close enough.

I’d like to wish all my imaginary friends a Merry Christmas!, now while my motor control is still good enough to type…

Just among us chickens, I enjoy hanging out with ya’all.

Mrs Fert has done a fine job (as always) of getting things organized, mailed out, etc., to our far-flung Ferts, Fert siblings, and Ferts-in-law.
Christmas supper will be (by my request) a slow-cooker beef roast. It’s thawing in the fridge even now.
Mrs Fert’s present has been under the table for about a week or two now, I’ve checked it and it’s looking good. I hope it’s a good surprise for her. She is a pearl of great price.
So, that said,
God bless us every one, and Merry Christmas to all!

Hiya,
Rule One of poultry keeping, never have more than one cock per flock of 20. That’s the max size of the harem he can service and will not attack any other male trying to attract other females. Keep the harems apart and all will be good.

Not much of a Christmas this time around – Mom passed away this summer and that just took the heart out of all the holidays this year. I didn’t bother with any decorations and only a few presents for a select few. Still I wish a very Merry Christmas to all who dwell in the House of Weasel & Badger and the Various Visitors here.

Chicken Farmer – ah, but what to do when the incubator produces surplus cocks and we do not cull and no one will take the little buggers, even as a gift?

All is going smoothly at Badger House (touch wood). I have stuffed myself (why should the turkey get all the fun) with wild boar, chestnut and cranberry pate (sounds posh but it came from Aldi) and her Stoatliness has no doubt eaten something strange from whichever dietary fad she is currently pursuing. The cat is asleep on her lap – and now we drink!

Merry Christmas fellow minions!

I’m working on it, chicken farmer. I rotate them getting free range time until I can shift a couple.

Gah, I hate typing on my phone.

@Durned…mine is bubbling away too…meatballs or sausages or both? The MIL always started her sauce with a bone-in pork steak, she then added meatballs and fennel sausages in the last hour.

I wish Y’all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah

God bless the House O’ Weasel and Badger. A year of heavy heartfelt loss ends with a Christmas grateful for those who remain.

@BJM – new recipe – Mrs Durned and I had to go into the wilds of Winco yesterday for the fennel seed – which neither one of us has ever added, but I have to say came out quite good.

Sweet Italian sausage and extra lean ground beef.

And then 2 Christmas movies, “It’s a Wonderful Life” for Mrs Durned, and “Die Hard” for we detestables (and then Witcher to catch Durnedson #2 up).

I could have gone with “Miracle on 34th Street” but it doesn’t have punchy lines like “Now I have a machine gun, Ho Ho Ho”
