Everything is stupid. Let’s laugh at these women.

The photo is described as “Women wear plastic headgear intended to protect the wearer from snowstorms in Montreal, 1939.” I mean, I guess.

That’s all I’ve got the heart for. I’ve spent most of the evening in bed under an electric blanket.

Quaint Tudor farmhouses were not built for comfort; there’s a reason they invited the cows into the house.

I felt colder there than I ever have here in Alaska, even at -50. That wet cold is brutal. Gotta admit, one thing the Brits do well is damp & dismal.

Reading your website is all that I have the heart for…and I’m in sunny SoCal where it hit 81 degrees today.
Thanks for being here, Stoatie, no matter how cold. Can I crochet you an ugly Afghan?

Cows in the house? Wasn’t that so they could have a glass of warm milk before bed?
And did they really ‘invite’ them?

And can someone crochet an ugly Persian for me?

I’m having trouble acclimating to the cold again—must be my age. And I want to go out at night for some star-gazing and meteor showers, but I need warmer outerwear. Would it be terrible if I sewed a floor-length hooded cape out of a down comforter?

@Deborah
Terrible? No, that sounds like a wonderfully warm and potentially marketable idea.

Speaking as Master of Hounds at 0200, in charge of letting the prime Pomchee go ‘walkabout’, anything that will keep you warm is legitimate. To include: a buffalo skin, any coat, sweater, or sweatshirt, grabbed off the newel post, handmade quilts (you’re allowed to do that just once…and you’ll regret it) and wool blankets worn as hooded capes.

Aw, that’s sweet, Teej, but I sort of have ugly Afghan PTSD. My mother’s favorite colors were hot orange, hot pink and hot yellow. I leave you to picture the result.

Hooded blankets are actually a thing. Mrs. Pupster gifted me one with her artwork on it when she still had a shopify store, someone else in this house claimed it and I haven’t seen it since. I felt like that Assassin’s Creed guy when I wore it.

All kinds of places have them for less but they are mostly for kids.
