We could use a few more stoatkind in my neighborhood. Too many rabbits and voles.

I went down to the creek a couple of weeks ago and got to watch a pair of otters. Which are just big aquatic weasels- right? They are very slinky and are just hell on the crawdads.

Our lot is frequently poorly portrayed with ratty heads and feline bodies.

In weasel news, don’t know if you caught this one (or care) but recent research has reclassified North American mustela erminea as mustela richardsonii.

Yea, I love weasels. I call every 2 year old a weasel.

I did miss that, Surly. They must’ve found significant differences to the European ermine. I do know they’ve fairly recently removed skunks from mustela and given them their own classification, Mephitidae. So we don’t have that stink hanging around the family no mo.

I was most puzzled by the legend, which liberally used the contraction “Do.” Took me ages to discover it’s short for “ditto”.

Congratulations to “TheFritz”. He wins this round.

I swear Ruthie had Fairy dust as blood.

This was Wednesday; I missed it, too, and I do try to pay attention to “recent comments” but forgot.

@Surly Ermine…”Mustela richardsonii’

Hmmm..I’ve picked up the crud that’s going around (not Rona) and have taken to my bed to binge and watched the “House of Cards” trilogy today…it’s back in rotation on BritBox and Amazon Prime. Ya think this stoaty specimen was named after Ian Richardson’s devious Francis Urquhart? The tale holds up very well and is still entertaining as hell thanks to Richardson’s sly use of the 4th wall and one of the best screenplay/adaptations in donkeys. I noticed that one of the minor characters was named Stoat.

Richardson’s FU, Like Nicol Wiliamson’s Merlin or Helen Mirren’s Morgana Le Fay, will never be done better. Which reminds me of this…NSFW or Kiddos. Yes, I admit Norton is one of my guilty pleasures.

Supposedly BJM, the new classification was named for Scottish naturalist John Richardson.
Ian Richardson, the voice of Death himself. I do enjoy the BBC Pratchett films.

Stoaty: I know you’re not doing Inktober this year, but I thought you might like this one from a friend of mine:

@Stoaty…um…actually you can zoom the page: ctrl +

@Surly…I surmised as much, but it would have been grand. Funny how once you take notice of something you suddenly see it everywhere.

I fondly remember the BBC Discworld radio broadcasts too. They are available at Audible or from Discworld Emporium. Did you notice this line? Death’s line to Albert, You may think I’ve already thought of that, but I could not possibly comment.

BTW-what did you think of Tennant & Sheen’s “Good Omens”?

@Canthark…sigh…it ain’t October without Stoaty’s Inktober drawings…but I get it. Maybe we can prevail on Stoaty to do a special Halloween week? Stoaty? Okay, maybe just Halloween. I love where your mind goes when you pick up a pen.

A creative process question, do you have the drawing in mind or do you follow the line? Sort of like a page grows from a sentence.

Nobody had Colin Powell? He was 84, ailing and not well liked on the Right. I’m a little surprised.

(Loved the chikkens, Can’t Hark. About to post some more).
