I survived!

Sussex is indeed big enough for a whole day’s lectures. It’s so big, in fact, that they had to break it into East Sussex and West Sussex because you couldn’t easily get across the whole county in olden days.
Today’s talks followed the coastline. I have seen soooooo much chalk today. Which isn’t all bad – interesting things fall out of chalk when the cliff faces break away.
I like the illo. Moody. See, MidJourney doesn’t always put asses on backwards.

I like that illo, too, Mme. Ermine. I’d call it ‘Turneresque’ if Turner ever did grayscale. Oops, greyscale.

I read a wonderful book about all the fossils that have been found in the “chalk” and how it changed paleontology. Can I remember the name of the book? No. I think it was thinly disguised “fiction” though. It was about a woman who made most of the discoveries, if that rings a bell for anyone.

@ExpressoBold Pureblood—Thank you for your help. I searched by “Mary Anning” and found the book that I read in 2010: Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier. I was being treated for cancer during that time—no wonder I couldn’t remember the name. I need to read it again. It was non-fiction that read like fiction, which explains why I was so confused.
