Badass

Tweet: “A Victorian archery outfit belonging to Mrs. Fanny Giveen, circa 1855, now part of the collection of the Museum of London.”
Changing the subject, a man turned up at the door today claiming to be a third party electrical box inspector. Well, he actually was one. I said, “what’s this all about?” and he said, “they’re trying to scare you into getting a smart meter.”
He took three pictures of our meter and reassured me they were lying and it would continue to work fine despite warnings.
Which is good because Uncle B is dead agin’ ’em.

What a lovely and elegant outfit. Sigh, I am totally a neo-Victorian.
As for the smart meters, they make a huge push to get you to take one here in Dallas. Why? Because they can turn off your power supply remotely any time they want. In times of high demand (like when it reaches 40°C) poof! Your power is off and there’s nothing you can do. Sweat peon, sweat!
So….Hell NO!

That’s it, Some Veg. it’s all part of their desperate attempt to sell us the ‘Global Warming’ lie and I ain’t ‘avin’ it.

I like the archery dress. It has a Turkish vibe, I think.

And right you are, Uncle B. I’m certainly bothered by the remote control aspect of the things, but equally bothered by the stealth communication channel introduced by the whole setup.
I have no real evidence that there’s anything more than electrical system status and usage data being sucked up the the Galactic Climate Authority HQ, but we all know that when a new communication capability is established, govt will use it, and they will use it for their own benefit and not for the benefit for us ordinary subjects.

They also want to start charging you for reactive power use, not just the active part. Dumb meters can’t measure reactive power so they want to switch them out. Yes, your bill will go up significantly.

Our power company reaches down and adjusts the thermostat Yesterday they (basically) shut it off for three hours at the hottest and it took another three to get back to temperature. Not sure it’s that economical.

They changed ours without so much as a by your leave.
On day I noticed the old meter “can” was gone and the new one appeared.
The reports are verkackt, they can tell you which of your electric sipping devices did how much sipping.
Just what I wanted, them peeking into my home.
We don’t run Alexa or Siri, which only complicates it for “them” a little I suppose.
I was thinking Turkish archer, or Greek.
And yeah, if your home net can drive through your house wiring, and it can, and does…what’s to stop that signal at the curb?
I laughed, Siri laughed, Alexa laughed, Google laughed, the refrigerator laughed…
