Uncle B bought me a robot!

It’s a battery powered can opener and, believe it or don’t, it works. You clamp that little magnet down on top of the can, press the button, and it grinds round and round until it’s completely detached the lid. Usually takes it about two revolutions, but it gets the job done.

It also makes me squeal with delight.

I’d give you a link, but I don’t want to look it up. ‘Twas a gift.

I, for one, welcome our new robotic can-opening overlords.

I wonder if it has a matching pickle jar lid twister offer? I’d love to have the set!

And I STILL carry a P-38 on my keyring.

I was visiting my sister and family, cooking everyone dinner, and I was struggling with her can opener. It is manual, but it doesn’t cut the can, it unfolds the lid from the can cylinder. I finally figured it out but it took long enough for me to look like a guy who can’t figure out a can opener, much to my brother in law’s delight. He’s a dick.

@Pupster — Your dick BIL probably took twice as long as you did to figure it out. Or, come to think of it, your sister probably had to show him.

@mostly cajun — my husband and son (JavaMan and JavaSon) still carry P-38s, too. JavaSon and I were out running around town a few years ago when he spied a military surplus store. We stopped and he bought a handful of them to give his friends.

I’ve been carrying a P-38 since before the TSA will claim “that’s a dangerous hijacking item on your keychain.”

Actually since way before there was a TSA…
P-38, don’t leave home without one.
