Adventure, and not the good kind

Long story short, I got hustled into the hospital over the weekend to fix a possible detached retina. A nice Romanian ophthalmologist stitched a ring around my retina with a laser. No loss of vision, very little pain. Should work out.
I can’t fault the quality of the treatment or the promptness of it. If anything let the process down, it was the bureaucracy. For example, I wandered lonely as a cloud through a completely empty hospital on a Sunday morning, begging to check in with someone. In the end, I stumbled on a surgical team waiting to perform an emergency surgery and whimpered until someone took pity and led me away.
I’m fine, thankee.
The not-very-good picture is one I took out the train window. It was a stand of trees, and every one of them was laden with multiple balls of mistletoe. Never seen anything like it.
We’ll do the tree now.

I’m glad you’re better. I’m not glad you had that experience. My last ER visit stateside wasn’t perfect (things I said led to consequences) but at least they checked me in right away.

I have to say, growl and spit about the NHS here as I do, we walked through the door of the A&E department and Stoatie was seen within minutes. I strongly suspect they have a ‘no Eengleesh’ employment policy, though.

I’m glad the experience ended well, and you have a rapid recovery! Having had serious eye surgery (plus two cataract jobs) I have HUGE sympathy and empathy both for not only the physical aspect but the emotional effect of OMG! Something’s wrong with my EYE!
@Uncle Badger — I seems like you have a ‘no Eengleesh’ immigration policy to make matters even worse.

Scary stuff. Had two partial detachments. The last one resulted in a vitrectomy. Modern medicine is life changing. So thankful you and I can still see. If you ever see a dark area in your vision field or a “spaghetti monster” let them know asap.

Get well soon, and I’m glad to hear that that your adventure in British healthcare was pretty acceptable.
A few years ago, we had a storm people called Icemageddon. Power went out, trees started falling, I was stuck on the hill, and missus Mulroy stayed at work for three days.
I noticed that oaks affected by mistletoe held up really well and unaffected oaks took it really hard.

It’s a scary thing when you need emergency EYE surgery. Prayers Ascending that you will heal perfectly.
A Scout troop where I used to live would sell little ziplock bags of mistletoe at Christmas. They made a LOT of money doing this. Mistletoe. It was one of their best fundraisers.

Good to hear it went fast. I watched MRS D get a lens replacement once. I ain’t watching that show again.

The mistletoe reminds me of Texas, I know, not something you associate with Texas, but it’s rampant here and really shows up in winter.

I hope you are resting peacefully and I am glad that, when you really needed it, the NHS served you well. Please spend a day with you eyes closed thinking only beautiful thoughts.
Perhaps Uncle Badger can help there by reading you the news that Donald Trump is suing the BBC for ten billion dollars! °-)

Why, yes, actually.
I thought it was funny at the time.
Am I banned yet?

You aren’t banned, but you made Odin cry.
Surly, I saw the monster! It was one of the most evil things I’ve ever seen. It looked like a spider’s web, or what you see when you let a drop of india ink fall into a glass of water. I immediately thought of the emergency room, but then it cleared after a few minutes.
It was several days after that before I got the lasering, mostly my fault for not jumping on it quicker.
