Poor boys

It’s been in the low twenties this week, which is as cold as it ever gets here. Our last two surviving birds have been through nights this cold, but only when they were part of a flock to cuddle with. They’re bachelors now.

Reflecting on how awful it would be to go out in the morning and find them stone dead, the last three nights I tiptoe out after they’ve gone to bed, shove them in cat carriers and bring them into the laundry room for the night.

It’s not warm back there, but it’s not freezing. The room with the fire would probably kill them with thermal shock. Also, they start doodle-doodling before the sun comes up.

Last time tonight and then it warms up a bit.

Look, I know I’m the last person who should say this (just look at that cockerel meld into the bars of the cage like a T-1000), but I’m getting tired of AI video on X and AI voiceovers on YouTube. I’m’a start blocking soon! Just saying.

AI slop is becoming a real crisis and I think we’ve only seen the trickle before the flood so far. I tinkered with it a couple of times then rejected it…ultimately, with every interaction you are training your replacement…we shouldn’t make it easy for them.

It’s nicely comforting to know you’re looking after the thermal wellbeing of your birds, Mme. Ermine!

If I see another AI talking baby I may turn into a child abuser. Hey, now! An AI child abuser, not a real world child abuser! Dante missed the special extra-hot circle of Hell for the real world ones.

The AI content creators have found voices that viewers and listeners like. One is a guy with a nasal twang that seems pretty folksy and likeable. The other is a male voice that sounds just like Nick Freitas, a Virginia politician and former Special Operator.

I almost willingly get fooled by “Miniskirt Fashion On an Urban Stroll” or some such title. Totally unrealistic depictions of young women who have all the luck in the genetic category of “woman.” It’s bound to lead to craziness and unrealistic expectations.

Me, I’m waiting for the economic cascade when someone in accounting dares to say AI is costing more than it’s making.

My first boss once told us (in the late 70s) we could work on artificial intelligence when he saw some real intelligence. 🙄

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
