Do you feel lucky?

So, where do you fall on the Weather Map of Doom? My old neighborhood, as always, was right on the borderline between ice and snow.

Here? The usual. Drizzly and miserable.

Take it easy with the snow shovel this weekend!

We are having a cold spell here, too. 11C in Baguio City, 17-22C here. Time to wear a hoodie and socks with the flip-flops!

We actually are getting lucky compared to other places but objectively we are not thrilled. We will spend tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday well down in the 15 – 20° F level. We have rain now and freezing rain tonight. Sleet all day tomorrow which the Weather Lady assures us is much better than freezing rain or hail. We went shopping a couple days and and laid in a lovely salmon filet, some nice shrimp, and a 3 pound chuck roast which I just roasted on the grill to almost black on the outside and 145° in the center. It may get tossed into the crock pot now with plenty of onions, carrots, potato, and a bottle of French plonk.

So, God willing and the power don’t go out, we are snuggled in for a couple of cozy days…

Wishing everyone else the same!

If I had my druthers, we would stay at home hunkered down for the next day or so, but one of my daughters has to go to Denver along the Front Range of the Rockies today. Fortunately, she comes back Sunday; which is a day after the snow stops here.

I am in the bread and milk zone. It’s making for good meme material. Fortunately my “in office day” can be flexible as long as it’s Mon-Fri, so even if it is messy past Sunday it will work out.
-1C today, gonna be -3 when it hits Sunday and Monday. Enjoy your Baguio weather, sounds nice.

I’m about 10 miles from Amarillo, and the region is on high alert. We all want the snow because it has been dangerously dry (there are deep cracks in the ground in my backyard). But I-40, which cuts across the panhandle from Oklahoma to New Mexico (roughly 250 miles) will be snarled with giant snow drifts, wrecks, and people stuck in their cars. We’ll be fine as long as we don’t lose power, which means no water. We’ll still be ok even if that happens, but JavaMan is awful grouchy when he gets cold. I better go dig out the down comforters now 🙂

-15 degrees (American) this morning with a stiff wind. Supposed to be that way for the next week or thereabouts. I feel for the poor souls who have to b3 out working in this crap.

66 F here in east central Florida at 3 PM on Friday.
Shorts and t-shirt today. And same for Saturday, Sunday and Monday as well. Tuesday morning low forecast as 40 F, so jeans and short sleeve sweatshirt for then.

Was -10F (-23C) this morning while I sipped my coffee inside this morning. A bit of a slog but hardly unprecedented for January here in N Illinois. Not going anywhere for a day or two.

Better than the -27F (-33C) that we had here in January 1985!

Who knows? It looks like maybe 1-2 inches here in Tidewater and that won’t last. Ice is an issue, but we can deal with that.

It’s been cool overnight but lovely during the day here in Sarasota County FL (one county south of armybrat). Next week, we’ll have several days with overnight lows in the mid-30°F range but daytime highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. In other words, the nasty stuff will give us a miss.

LA (lower Alabama), where I was born, but I grew up on the bomber and missile bases of the Dakotas. Later I had a career around DC, so I’m not unfamiliar with cold and snow. We were right on the bottom edge of the ice line according to the forecast a couple of days ago, but now it will be north of us. My sons live around Atlanta and are sure to take it on the chin.

Being about 8 mile from Some Vegetable I’ll stand with his report.
No roast though, last night was pork tenderloin, and today will be a lovely shepherds pie (we bought some imported high quality Swiss Shepard at Whole Foods, the tariff price was obscene).

And today’s recreation will be watching the dogs tell us to get stuffed when we try to make them go outside.

We are in the 0″ to “OMG The Apocalypse!” zone.
So far, it isn’t the apocalypse. I am disappointed.
