I’m going to be that old lady

A 91-year-old lady in Cleveland failed to respond to an automated wellness check. After which, she failed to respond to a human dispatcher call. The police called her daughter and found that, yes, she should be home and answering the phone.

The police did a check and she didn’t come to the door. Concerned, they walked in, and…she was playing a video game and trying desperately to beat her own personal best.

I bet she was pissed.

It was a game called Super Bubble Pop (pictured). And she was super into it.

According to the article, 36% of Americans aged 80-90 play video games weekly, but she was 91 so I guess it doesn’t count.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

I read the article and it said that she was grateful for the welfare check, and that she thanked the cops.

I don’t believe it. NFW!

I’d like to hear a recording of the next phone call she gets from the Police Benevolent Society money beggar. He’s sure to get an earful of righteous abuse!

At least she wasn’t watching CNN and nodding along to all the mental misfits and ideological Stalinists infecting that dismal excuse for a FCC-regulated entity.

Stalinists are much worse than Bolsheviks…

🎵 My eyes have seen the glory of a high score in my game
The telephone keeps ringing but I keep playing just the same
It’s probably just a spam call or my nosey little niece
But who just smashed in the front door? My God it’s the POLICE!

Hey Cops what’s it to ya? Hey Cops what’s it to ya?
I’m the Super Bubble Pop Queen and I’ll keep playing after you’re gone.

I admire the police for their concern, but couldn’t her daughter have gotten off her behind and gotten in her car and driven over so the cops could go on having their tea pursuing criminals

I can’t hold the controller tight enough anymore, my hands start aching and I have to stop playing. It is frustrating to not be able to do the things you took for granted so long ago.

Her daughter might not have the arm-strength to swing a truncheon as required.

My solitaire game keeps trying to get me to play slot machine games too.

Hell, the CPAP machine thinks I should tell the world about how long I’ve been using a CPAP machine, and hands me a little gold star every morning telling me how good I did ‘last night’ even when I had a lousy night’s sleep.

Also, if we play games, we’ll avoid dementia!
At least that’s what ‘leading neuroscientists’ tell me when they’re trying to get me to download another game for my tablet.

(yeah. I'm going to write)

(oooo! you have a website?)

Beware: more than one link in a comment is apt to earn you a trip to the spam filter, where you will remain -- cold, frightened and alone -- until I remember to clean the trap. But, hey, without Akismet, we'd be up to our asses in...well, ass porn, mostly.
