Can it be any worse than Hollyweird remaking movies over and over again adding the latest socially approved crap about humanity (and unicorns and things we ‘feel’ we are, but aren’t?)
Story lines with very slight variations that show up in every show of the same genre? (He has Amyloidosis! We need a brain biopsy! She’s a mole terrorist working to overthrow the CIA who is doing bad things to psychopaths! He’s misuderstood Satan with a side of sugar and gluten dairy free pastry! )
And given the highly advanced level of modern educated readers and viewers, it keeps them happy even though it’s just “It was a dark and stormy night…”.
So much human produced schlock, how can AI do worse?
Apart of course from endlessly celebrating the people who got AI to do the work.

Some of these are already appearing on YouTube as audiobooks. I discovered one which was an “Agatha Christie style” Hercule Poirot story. Out of copyright, you see, so they just stuffed the A.I. full of her novels and said, ” Poop me a Hercule Poirot story!” “Generate a story written in the style of Agatha Christie, using the character Hercule Poirot.”
It didn’t take long to notice “something” was a little off after which I was able to see it was A.I. generated.

durnedyankee, it’s worse. I have read the sloppiest of the slop and it’s much worse than human Hollyweird because it doesn’t know what it doesn’t know. Hollyweird is ignorant but knows that it’s not omniscient. AI assumes it is.

@Jon – I’ve bought some pretty awful sci-fi/fantasy over the years.
Some of which I didn’t realize was awful because I was too young to know the difference.
Some was so bad I didn’t get past the first chapter, which is frustrating when you paid (Then) $7.95 for the paperback.
But…having said that, I acknowledge you are correct, AI will never say “wow, this is crap!”.
And the bozo who ‘commissioned’ AI to do it won’t either I guess.
