Memento mori Friday
Okay, I made that up. Memento mori Friday isn’t a thing. Google Pictures showed me this snapshot as a seven years ago today… thing and I thought it was cool enough to post. It’s the stone for Lawrence Day and Joane his Wife who died in 1676. I have no idea where it was.

There is no debate that two prior DP picks have succumbed legally under the rules. However, does LavenderGirl’s pick of Ron Hunt, passed on 17 July (aged 109), qualify as famous enough? Violet Hensley passed on 7 August and has been a consistent pick of steve’s for many rounds. Therefore, my arbitration instincts would award both a dick and we all get to start fresh next Friday! Huzzah!

Frankly I am not that impressed by either of them in the context of this competition. There have been thousands of baseball players and given Baseball’s fetish for statistics almost every ball player holds a record for “most” something.
Now Violet Hensley is indeed an amazing person, and actually DID something phenomenal and did not do it to seek attention. It deservedly came because of her dedication to the exercise of skills. But FAMOUS? Perhaps famous. And that within her arena. A single appearance at The Grand Ole Opery? Again a crowd of many, many thousands are in that club. For example, Shirley Temple also made a single appearance at the Grand Ole Opery. Now compare and contrast relative levels of “fame” between them.
So both Mr. Hunt and Ms. Hensley are well known in esoteric circles – big enough fish in small ponds. However I wouldn’t expect Ms. Weasel to know of either of them, any more than she would know of my personal hero Rollie Free.

If it were Ron’s brother, Mike, I’d say he was famous enough but Ron is just not very famous.
Since S Weasel is way behind on her dicks or artwork, it’s only important for bragging rights among a select group of internetters.
