I hope you enjoyed your Chinese dinner, Stoaty. I’m a little jealous. I’ve never had anything delivered to my house except pizza. But now I live outside the delivery range, so I can’t even get that anymore.

I now love in an area where nothing is delivered. You get used to it.
In Tempe, AZ, the only place with its own delivery folks is a pizza place, everbody else is via delivery services I won’t use.
I won’t spend $15, + tip, to get my $20 order.
I’m so old I remember when they did not add on to pay the pizza delivery guy.
Now get off my lawn!

When hubby and I lived in Boston we attempted delivery several times. We eventually decided it just wasn’t worth it as most food arrived cold and greasy…except for the Indian food. Their son was their delivery guy and the food was always piping hot and fabulous. Other than that we didn’t do delivery. Now we live in FL. We still don’t do delivery.

Happiness is living within driving distance of pizza, chinese, burgers, gyros, thai, plus four Publix grocery stores. And they all let me order online so my stuff is ready when I get there.

It didn’t take but a few very unsatisfactory delivery experiences to call it quits.

I sincerely hope my bad luck didn’t infect Stoaty and Uncle B’s Chinese dinner!

Hmmm – I guess that we technically do take-out fairly often in the sense a restaurant prepares the food, and we subsequently eat it at home, but it’s been years since we’ve had anything delivered. I am our delivery driver. We have quite a few different restaurants in our neighborhood- Sushi, Mexican, Indian, Italian, and Texas barbecue.

I wish we had a good take-out Chinese nearby now that you mention it. There really is something magic about the flavor of Chinese food in those paper boxes. Now I want some!

Against all the odds it turned out quite well! One reason we’ve never tried ordering for delivery is we assumed we were too far away but someone tipped us off that the Chinese takeaway dive in a nearby town would actually risk coming out here. There was, of course, the anticipated ‘near miss’ but Her Stoatliness caught the driver before he was about to give up looking for the sett so all was well and the quality was surprisingly good. But what happened to takeaway prices since we last bought the stuff?! Good job the restaurant offers long mortgage terms.
