FLOTUS is dressing herself again, I see

So, did everyone enjoy Michelle’s new ‘do?

No, I didn’t watch a second of the inauguration. In fact, we’ve spent the day diving for the radio or the remote control to make SURE we didn’t watch a second of it. Sometimes, it’s the better part of wisdom just to walk away.

Reading the headlines lately — all this crap about a triumphant POTUS smashing the GOP — I get the feeling the other guys are just pushing my buttons for the fun of it.

I have a big brother. I recognize a First Degree Taunting when I get one across the muzzle.

Well, I don’t give permission for my buttons to be pushed. Nyah.

Enjoy the victory parties, Chumps. See you in 2014.

I know better than to be apocalyptic, but buttons, etc. Ready, set, apocalyptic:

Better to see you in 2014, Chumps, than 1861. Best tone it down a bit.

I know, everyone’s a tough guy on a keyboard.

Ah, the problem with that is, we’ve got an urban/rural divide. How the hell do you secede from that?

It’s even more severe over here. Thanks to Labour, the cities here are minority British. Can you imagine? How the hell are we going to deal with that?

…Disarmed and outnumbered.

Brittania Waives The Rules indeed.

What a state. Pay attention, fellow ‘mercans. It only took them less than 2 generations to get where they are.

Easy to avoid the inauguration today – I went to work (not everybody gets MLK Day off). At this point I’ll be happy if the bloviating Democrats will just generate enough hot air to get us back above freezing. Apart from that the Beltway Carnival may provide some occasional amusement. Maybe.

I’ve been reading about the Mary Beard/Rachel Bull ruckus. I really dislike Beard. Besides the fact that she is thin skin, I remember that crap she wrote immediately post 9/11 saying we had it coming. Me and old Mary in the same room would not be a good idea…

Anyway, if the UK does expand immigration — you’re fucked!

This thing used to remember my name and email. 12:00 am was me, I was the apocalyptic one.

I used 1861 because I don’t know a starting year for the Dirty War in Argentina right off the top of my head. I use the word “apocalyptic” because we’re most likely to continue muddling through. Muddling through will probably be as triumphant an outcome as we could expect in this case.

If things do go tits up, of which there is an example in American history, I predict something like Argentina in the 1970’s. Assassinations, kidnappings, bombings, all the stuff the Left in this country was doing during Vietnam, come to think of it. Which side will the Legions back? You-Know-Who has another four years to appoint general and flag officers, and approve the critical command assignments. Paranoid me, just being silly.

Speaking of the urban rural divide, (reminder: it would be wrong to cut off transport of food, fuel, and other necessities to the blue areas) I view the big urban areas here as being minority American. Progressives don’t like the Constitution, don’t want it, and have spent the past hundred years trying to make it a dead letter. Post-Americans, if you want to call them that. The Constitution is not for them. Seriously.

Why, yes, I do read an awful lot of science fiction, why do you ask?

It remembers your name for a long time, Mike, and then it forgets out of the blue. Freaks me out when it forgets me and I have to sign into the admin account. I’m always sure I’ve been hacked.

I honestly do not know how this resolves. We’ve got two large groups that cannot bear to live by each other’s rules. We’ve got the left/right divide. The urban/rural divide (similar, but not exactly the same).

And, worst of all, the ruling class/ruled class divide. Our ruling class is a bunch of mediocrities who believe themselves an enlightened, entitled elite.

I keep thinking we should make common cause with the extreme lefties until we resolve the issues that piss us both off — chief among them, our ruling class and its inadequacies.

I love this blog and have been reading for a while now. Why the sudden doom and gloom? This should be a happy place. Sure, Obama was re-elected and once again we’re reminded the average American is a low information voter. But look at it this way — the entertainment from watching these average Americans get screwed to the walls is well worth it.

You just have to make sure YOU’RE safe from the screwing thats coming. So buy your property in rural areas, get loads of precious metal things, stay away from bonds and faux money. Find a non-union job if you’re young. Look at the S&P and SEE that triple top and get out BEFORE it comes down.

Then you can enjoy the chickens as they come home to roost! We’ve been thru this before — 1964. Look at the Congress back then — way worse than now. We got giant FICA taxes then, remember? We got Vietnam. 1974 recession followed by a godawful inflation followed by godawful interest rates. Then….Reagan. I was too young to plan back then — but not this time around. All of should be getting things in order for the next 5-10 years of grief OTHER people will suffer.

That common cause with Leftists thing will demand the nicest judgement. Making common cause with Stalin in 1941 had its’ rewards, ignoring the entire Cold War. Those who made common cause with Lenin in 1917 found themselves a’rotting in the cold, cold ground.

I’m actually glad I had to work today (not being a government worker or banker). Kept me away from the TV, although some of the fucking inaugural dance with the new hairdo did pop up.

Nancy Pelosi sat her skanky ass on the back of some Detroit antique convertible through one of my city’s numerous parades a few years ago. I was the only one booing her loudly. Loudly enough to make sure my sidewalk neighbors could hear. I sensed some agreement from the ‘non-clappers’, but I was an oddity and turned a couple polite heads.

Same thing today. Ride past me in your chariot while the addicts swoon. Unable to throw a tomato at it, I stayed far away.

This wasn’t an inauguration. This was cheering from the midnight vigil as some death-row inmate gets his injection overturned to a life sentence 20 minutes before he fills a pine box.

Let it Burn.

Did Michelle appear somewhere today? I haven’t had the TV or the radio on today, by some apparently happy coincidence. Since I cashed out of my company and retired early, I don’t pay much attention to the calendar, and since November, almost no attention to the news.
However I did go out driving today in my old toy convertible, and happened to see a lovely new white Toyota Land Cruiser next to me in traffic. The big guy driving it was smoking a cigar. On the rear window of the Land Cruiser was neatl silkscreened (?), professionally printed(?) in conservatively sized print:

“I am John Galt”

Weasel – someone brought “Chairman Meow” to my attention yesterday, and the first thing that popped into my head (not counting my martini) was a T-shirt with a Weasel in a Che beret with the caption,
“LET IT BURN”…

That would be excellent Leftie Bait

An apt quote from Vanderluen:

“Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the “new wonderful good society” which shall now be Rome’s, interpreted to mean “more money, more ease, more security, and more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.”
— Marcus Tullius Cicero

By that time, it was either Caesar or Pompey. The republic was already dead, if not yet buried.
