Wait, I…what? blog?

I just leaned out the kitchen window and took this snapshot. This, actually, is a big improvement. Most of the day, it’s been total blizzard whiteout sideways snow. I could barely make out the poor ewes in the field behind, heavy with lamb. Not really all that much snow, but the wind!

And I’m on Day 2 — right at the misery point — of that cold all the cool kids are coming down with.

If you’ll excuse me, I have drinking to do…

Yeah, we got a snow like that in eastern Canada over a week ago…hope you feel better soon…there was some rumour of a new SARS type outbreak in London brought in from the middle east…hope it’s not that!

I thought you kidz over there wouldn’t know what snow is by now according to the Church of AGW?

I’m on about day 40 of that cold. I’m massively sick of it.

I hope the lambs are okay!

And although I thoroughly detest daylight savings time, to walk out of work today into the sunshine was GLORIOUS!

I recommend Chicken Soup, fruitcake soaked in brandy (Roman MRE’s) and frequent Hot toddies. It may not cure you, but you sure won’t give a shit…

Somebody should assassinate that Prime Minister. He’s no better than the other two dead ones. Assuming Oceania was telling us the truth about those previous murders!

Anyhoo, I see nothing to laugh at. The Koreans have nukes. They are run by a crazy 28 year old dictator. And surrounded by generals who swear loyalty oaths to him, not some Constitution. Its time to invest in a few anti- missile missiles, like Israel.

What possible purpose would it serve not telling the Truth?

Saw something fascinating and climate related a few days ago on WUWT site. Not the biggest TED channel fan, but this guy might be on to something. Don’t think you’ll see it in the MFM. Doesn’t fit the Church of AGW model and guaranteed to piss off vegans.

On the other hand, you can waste a whole afternoon laughing if you Google “TED talks parody”.

Oceania, honest to god, I have no idea what purpose anything you post serves.

The few times I’ve been to TED, I always think Ghandi or Buddha will pop up in the background to wave devil horns behind the speaker’s head.

Long term forecast here in Illinois is for more gray, cloudy, raining, flurrying, chilly, gray (did I say gray already; ok, then how about grey), cold, wet and sloppy. Almost enough to make you want to be sick. Almost. Well, I’m out into it – off to work I go.

Get well now. Don’t worry. Spring will be here in about a year or two.

I hope you feel better today, Stoaty. I bet Uncle Badger is ready to start digging in the ground. It’s cool and sunny today at my little patch—we’ll hit high 70s by late afternoon. But I woke up wanting comfort coffee—lots of milk and sugar in my coffee instead of black. I know, you were wondering if I was pouring Black Jack in my coffee at 8 o’clock AM! But at least it’s not snowing—though we could use the moisture. We’re under a burn ban, again(x5). I don’t know how anything grows here. I’ve been lusting in the seed catalogs and that just makes me sadder.

So Weas, let the chickens in the kitchen, make some soup, curl up with a blanket and a good book. The only sensible thing to to do. Oh, and ignore Oceania, makes my head hurt, bound to make yours worse.

Sick of winter? Heck, we’ve never had any down here in Da Swamp. It was warm and sticky almost through December; we’ve had occasional outbreaks of gummy heat the last two months; and by this weekend it’ll be nasty warm again, with yours truly feeling as though I’ve got warm slime coating my body under my clothes. And so it will remain, soggy and dispiriting, until December.

Dry warmth is one thing; wet warmth is quite another. I’d trade you summer-loving people for some winter right now. (When my neighbors start complaining in July and August that “It’s hot!!!”, I will cheerfully go, “BWAHAHAHA! This is what you wished for back in January! BWAHAHAHA!”)

Besides, the snow is beautiful (if you don’t have to walk in it or shovel it, naturally).

Hope you feel better soon, Stoaty.

You can, Gibby, you can! They’ve brought out both an ibuprofen and a paracetamol with codeine, just in the last year or so. It’s not strong, but it’s enough to waft me home to Jesus on a happy pink cloud.

Yes, I had some today. Yes, it helps.

My Vet used to have a ferret as a pet, and he would drag all of the used milk filters out of the trash and hide them under the bed….. (the ferret, not my vet….)
