Over the hills and far away

trumpatubby

I have no idea what will come, but today my friends are smiling and my enemies are glum. It beats the alternative.

Good weekend, everyone!

Mrs. B has spent the day cheering and clapping at the TV coverage of the inauguration. And it’s still going …

“I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment – this was the time – when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, and God Bless you

And this time I believe it!

I am very glad DJT is now the US president, especially given his competition. My main reason for supporting him is that he promises to be a YUGE disruptive influence on the machinery and institutions that have run rampant for far too long. He has frightened and pissed off a lot of people whose fear and anger lighten my heart with sweet, sweet schadenfreude!

Huh. I’m surprised that O didn’t pardon her on his way out the door just to make her look guilty. He must not hate her as much as I thought.

Oh well, ALL HAIL ORANGE JULIUS CAESAR! That’s what the media thanks were supposed to be yelling right now, innit?

We watched it until NBC stopped inaugural programming, and it was sweet. It would have been better without the sour grapes commentary, but that was a given. I was happy when they left BO’s speech at Andrews to go to Trump signing his executive orders, though.

My daughter and I had lunch in the bar at Chilis so we could watch the parade, but they suddenly turned it off. We pulled it up on our phone and just watched it that way. We were determined!

Here’s to four good years, and hopes he can do half of what he promised.

I have weird sleeping patterns and was up at 2 am. Then my computer went wonky. I had finished dl updates and accidently clicked restart instead of postpone so I missed the speech. I did find a copy and watched it. I thought it was a very good speech. I thought the talking heads were as obnoxious as ever. Then I fell asleep. Now awake and checking the internet it appears leftys are behaving badly. Saw a clip of Lauren Southern getting attacked. What jerks.

I watched the festivities by live-streaming C-Span on my computer. NO COMMENTATORS! It was great.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to see the pussy hats of their women!

No wait, that can’t be right…

And not by eastern windows only,
When daylight comes, comes in the light;
In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly;
But westward, look, the land is bright!

Wonderful day! Plus we got a ton of rain in drought stricken SoCal.

And if that’s not good enough, Nigel Farage joined Fox News. What more can one ask for?

(well, maybe just a tad of honest, un-biased coverage by the news. It was hard to tell if the 29 dirty protesters were the top story or the Inauguration of Prez 45)

Waiting on C-Span for the O’s helicopter to take off from Andrews was agonizing enough for me, so I switched to FOXnews until the parade began, then switched back. In spite of the fawning over the first lady’s appearance and demeanor on FOX, I thought Yvanka was the loveliest woman onstage as the families danced at the Inaugural Balls. I hope we’ll see her often in the days to come.

Pres. Trump makes me laugh. He’s so outgoing and almost childish, wagging his head to music, whatever it may be, bragging, taking blatant pleasure in supporters’ approval, and saying exactly what he thinks as soon as he thinks it. A national leader who’s upfront may not be nearly as infuriating as the devious vessel of petulance who faded up into the haze following the swearing-in ceremony.

I was disappointed in the dancing, too. And almost all the men were bare-headed at the inauguration. I don’t want to sound sexist 😉 but I think every man’s face and dignity is improved by a handsome hat. A real hat, not knitted cap.

Speaking of hats, I trust everyone’s seen this. I LOVE this – and the best part is the look on cheney’s face.

Oh but I loved this. Bush is a good sport. It always made me sad that Cheney’s lopsided smile was called a smirk. Cheney is wearing what I would call the classic (dressier) Stockman’s hat—not what a working cowboy or country music band would wear 😉 The Stockman is what LBJ wore, and all my uncles and grandfathers, and is what my son prefers. My nephew, a barbecue pitmaster, wears this: http://www.sunbody.com/index.cfm/product/56/sam-houston.cfm

I was wondering who the well-dressed chap in the silverbelly hat was!

My great moment was when Trump, walking by himself, emerged from the hall. In the seconds before he stepped out onto the balcony, he flashed a thumbs-up at everybody watching. Man’s got style.
