It sounds worse than it is
At last, I got my caput mortuum! I didn’t order it specifically, it was part of a package of pigments. Cheapest way I could get my hands on a sample of all the colors I wanted.
But I have found it! The holy grail! The pigment that best matches color of a chicken’s comb with the sun shining through it! It is cadmium vermilion and I am inexpressibly chuffed.
It looks brighter when you mix it up.

Ms. Weasel, I admire your exuberance over a sample of red paint. Color is very important, and very tricky at times.
I, myself, am struggling to create a ‘passport photo’ that meets government specifications.
It would be much simpler to go to the place that does passport photos and let them do it. But I am a semi-skilled amateur photography and I have all the equipment, and I have the time to waste. It is a learning experience, and all the things I learn will be forgotten in a matter of weeks.
But it is a bright sunny day, and the natural lighting streaming into my south facing studio should not be wasted. We get so few sunny days.
I think I have one (out of fifty)that meets government specifications. I don’t have it sized and printed yet, however.
Time for pizza.
