Loaves, fishes and pap smears

Yeah, dude. We totally, totally believe you can add tens of millions of people to the insurance pool and nobody’s premiums will go up and nobody’s coverage will go down. Totally. Because we are totally the inbred paste-eating retards they told you about at Harvard.

This is an unbelievably clumsy piece of political reasoning, this bill. They forgot the First Rule of Ponzi Schemes: in the beginning, everybody gets a pony. Near as I can figure it, nobody ever gets a pony with this thing.

If you already have insurance (Medicare, Medicaid or private), either your coverage goes down, your premiums go up or both.

If you don’t have insurance, the government is going to force you to stick your hand in your pocket and buy something you could damn well have bought any time, without the helpful assistance Guido the Legbreaker.

The segment of society that is currently uninsured, not poor enough to qualify for Medicaid but poor enough to trigger substantial government assistance paying for this shit — the group of voters that is kinda, sorta getting a pony — must be incredibly small.

I wonder if he’s registered to vote.

Ya know? I’m getting close enough to retirement that this scares all things scatological out of me–enough so I wouldn’t even have to drink that soapy stuff to get a colonoscopy done (assuming they’re still available when I need to do it again in 5 years).

There ain’t no pony in this pile o’ {insert scatological noun of your choice here, like el toro poopoo}.

Well, it’s been estimated that under Obamacare, private insurance will cease to exist within 5 years. They simply will NOT be able to remain solvent with all of the Democrips unfunded mandates being piled up on them….

Scuba, don’t forget the 85/15 thing they changed on them.

Read here from Rush’s site and his insurance lady caller, who explains things pretty well.

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_032310/content/01125109.guest.html

The democrats have made all of them financially unstable today. I give it a couple of years and they go under. Since most people’s insurance kicks in at the beginning of the year, they are in for a shock come Jan. Most will probably abandon their plans and the dems will swoop in and save them from the greedy buggers. And most will have no clue how much those companies are being taxed…not to mention those who can afford to keep the plans will be taxed for having them.

So Barry lied once again. You won’t get to keep your insurance plan.

This isn’t the Gramscian Long March Through the Institutions. It’s the full-frontal assault, kick-the-door-in-and-machinegun-the-occupants. Obama and the Dems are suicide bombers. He doesn’t care that they’re screwed in the mid-terms and he’s ousted on 2012. This is a foot in the door for full-blown Euro-style Social Democracy. It’s Messianic, not far from fascistic, and must be resisted. The fear is he’ll use this to pray in aid some spurious sort of momentum to kamikaze through Cap and Trade and Card Check before he gets the shove.

McCain would have been pretty bad. Carter was pretty bad. Clinton was a horror story. Neither Bush was worth a whole hell of a lot. Obama is a catastrophe.

As long as they’re going to lose and lose big in November, why not vote in the whole wish-list on the way out?

Personally, I have suspected Obama was a walking conspiracy since he appeared on the scene. I don’t believe he is an American in any meaningful sense. I doubt he is entitled to be US President. I strongly suspect there are facts yet to emerge about how this arse got to be POTUS that will make JKF conspiracy nuts look like complete innocents.

I don’t believe TOTUS is a socialist, or any other particular kind of ideologue. A socialist thinks that a big brother government is good for us all. I don’t think TOTUS cares. He, and apparently quite a few of our legislators, adhere to Royko’s proposed Chicago slogan “Ubi est mea?” Power, money, a stable full of aides, supplicant courtiers–that’s the real goal.
I suspect that the missing full-form certificate just contains something silly like “father unknown,” or perhaps misspells his name, or something else that would leave his wonderfulness open to a little mockery; which his proud spirit cannot endure.

The center will not hold.

Numbers are starting to look like it’s going to be a much bigger power shift in November than what was seen before ’94’s Republican takeover. I only hope that it will be a large enough shift and enough Juan McShamnestys shall be tossed from the party to enable a repeal to be a possibility.

I keep hearing that’s not likely, but I refuse to give up hope. Where do we have left to go should America fall? We must stand and fight this.

Comment from Rich Rostrom

FM Davis his real father… That’s a new one.

FWIW: I don’t think he’s ineligible to be President. He’s the child of a U.S. citizen. Even if not born in the U.S., that’s all it takes. So there has to be something else he’s hiding.

FWIW 2: Obama is not a serious Marxist or Socialist. The champagne Reds of today’s Left aren’t going in for general confiscation and redistribution. You think Soros is giving up his money? Welfarism, yes; regulationism, yes; and of course massive cronyism. Some of the rich are going to end up skinned – those without the right political connections. It’s the traditional upper-middle class that’s really going to be crushed – the successful entrepreneurs with $5M-$50M businesses. And the working class – them what doesn’t have government jobs or politically protected union jobs. And the “technical middle class”: engineers, doctors, computer guys.

FWIW 3: Obama is not stupid. But he’s not as smart as he thinks he is. He’s been in a sweet spot all his life: smart clean black guy, the sort that every college or business wants so they don’t have to hire someone whose only value is his skin. He slid up the ladder among people who were oh so grateful for his presence that he never really had to do anything.

Which game has now run out. So he’s decided to Do Things, straight out of the liberal wishlist – since that is all the training he’s ever had.

He’s not a closet Moslem, and he’s not totally irresponsible – given his actions so far in Afghanistan.

He is, basically, a tranzi (“transnational progressive”).

Rich, if he were born out of the country, he wouldn’t be a citizen because of the age of his mother at the time. I forget the details, but there’s some rule about the combination of his mother’s age and her length of time out of the country that he wouldn’t meet.

FTR, I suspect that it’s either the Frank Marshall Davis thing (Baldilocks looks more like Obama Sr. than Obama does, and Obama does look a lot like Frank Marshall Davis) or it’s that his certificate says Muslim for the father’s religion. I wouldn’t care about either, personally.

geoff, I strongly suggest you use fairness and not justice. It’s not “fair” that people suffer consequences for their actions, but it sure as hell is just.

Comment from James
Time: March 25, 2010, 2:44 pm

Or use the word “equity” “Fairness” still has some connotations of justice, and I think you want to highlight the contrast between justice (treating people as their behavior warrants) and equity (treating everyone equally).

Comment from Rich Rostrom
Time: March 26, 2010, 1:13 am

Mrs P: Under the statute at the time, the child of a U.S. citizen and an alien, born out of the country, inherited citizenship if the citizen parent “was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than ten years, at least five of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years…” Since Stanley Dunham Obama was three months shy of 19 when Barack was born, the second clause could not possibly have been fulfilled, and could operate in a manner not intended by Congress.

The intent of the clause was to prevent inherited citizenship passing through a succession of people who lived in other countries except for brief visits to the U.S., and thus were not really Americans. Stanley Dunham was born in the U.S. and had lived here all her life, except a possible foreign trip at the time of Barack’s birth.

Furthermore, the clause was subsquently amended to “five years, at least two…”, which change was made retroactive (or at least arguably was made so – the amending legislation is unclear).

So while there is in theory a case that Obama might not inherit citizenship, that case is based on hyper-strict interpretation of a booby-trap clause that was probably repealed.

IMHO, not an issue.

As for the paternity question: how hard would it be to check his DNA against his putative Kenyan relatives, or any relatives of Frank Marshall?

I agree that it isn’t a substantive question. But given his Dreams From My Father shtick, if he knew that Marshall was his real father, that “speaks to credibility”, as they say on the lawyer shows. One wouldn’t expect him to talk about Marshall as his father, if only out of respect for his mother’s memory, but he could just ignore the Kenyan.

Comment from Mrs. Peel
Time: March 26, 2010, 3:24 am

Ah, thanks for the details, Rich.

Yes, the only reason it would matter if FMD were his father is because so much of his identity is wrapped up in the Dreams from my Father (or, as one commenter at Ace’s called it, “Issues from my Daddy”) thing. It wouldn’t change my opinion of him at all – as you say, it’s not substantive.
