Huh.

gloves

I was looking for a picture of a Medieval embroidered glove tonight (don’t judge me!) and I ran across the Worshipful Company of Glovers of London.

Well, of course there’s a Worshipful Company of Glovers of London.

They have a very fun antique glove collection to browse. Surprised to see, though, they only go back to the Seventeenth Century.

If you liked that, you’d probably also like the museum attached to Dents, Her Maj’s glove maker.

Never did find what I was looking for, though.

Have a good weekend, y’all. Don’t get blowed up!

It is highly unlikely that I will even leave my house until I have to go to work on Monday. I’ve only got a month to finish Christmas sewing!

The Dents site is very interesting, their selection of contemporary gloves amazing. The “thought of “Pony skin” gloves makes my heart hurt, but I covet the deerskin and tweed Brechin pair.

(The somewhat effeminate gloves of Charles I look as if they’re still occupied. No doubt someone’s checked.)

That whole century was effeminate. 😎

Does anyone make consumables that exquisite anymore? Because you know they tossed them just as soon as King Louis declared a minor detail to be passe.

Charlie 1 was an arrogant idiot, convinced he was the instrument of God on earth, and above the law.

Cromwell disagreed.

And of course Charlie 2 and the Restoration was one big par-TAY!

Nina? sewing Christmas decorations or Christmas presents? I can always use ideas. Although I can’t start until after November because I am doing NaNoWriMo this year (and not very well, since I am larking about on the internet instead).

Presents. All the boys in the family (even the one not born yet) are getting Irish flat caps from me, and I’ve only got two baby ones made so far. I need to get busy!

And I found some over-the-top awful horned helmet Viking fleece at Joann’s…the two Norwegian babies are getting little blankets made of that. I can’t wait to see the rolled eyes on Christmas Eve when those are opened!

Nina—what great gifts! Viking fleece! That’s amazing. I don’t think I’m up to sewing Irish flat caps but I found some online and they are adorable. Lucky, lucky little boys (big boys too).

Good luck to you, Nina. I only tried NaNoWriMo once. I liked my story idea, but I just couldn’t pull it off and flamed out in the first week.
